Peter King: Merriman as All-Pro

Generally, I think Peter King does a pretty good job and knows what he's talking about. Lately, I've started to wonder.

In his Monday Morning Quarterback column today he's listing his choices on his Associated Press All-Pro ballot. For outside linebacker, he selects San Diego's Shawn Merriman and says the following:

Len Pasquarelli echoed what I think about this the other day on ESPN radio. In football, when we deliberate for the Hall of Fame, we do not take off-field stuff into account. (Or at least we're told not to.) I'm assuming he's talking about the steroids suspension, and for the life of me I can't figure out how King's brain -- or anyone elses -- rationalizes cheating as "off-field stuff."

Ya, Merriman was great this year. Because he cheated. How about selecting a player with honor and integrity like Mike Vrabel?
