NFL network

all that stands between the Pats and a perfect season is....

Star-divide

all that stands between the Pats and a perfect season is MONEY...  I predicted this day to my friends after week 8.  A showdown between history and GREED.  Whether you side with the NFL network, or the cable companies, it is irrelevant.  The most historic game in NFL history has come down to GREED.  Both the cable companies and the NFL have restricted your viewing because either or both want to make a ton of cash at the expense of your hard earned dollar.

I am personally saddened by the fact that congress has to get involved in this.  I personally believe that NFL sunday ticket should be available to every person in the US, cable or direct TV.

Unfortunately I will have to go to a sports bar to watch OUR team kick the tar out of the Giants, to watch Brady and Moss set records that will not be broken for decades, and to watch the Pats put up a perfect regular season.  I subscribe to Time Warner.

Channel 5
will be carrying the game in the Boston market. I have NFL network and most of the time it is a continuous loop of crap, with a game thrown in only occasionally. It really should come free with any cable package. I have Verizon FIOS, and I think(hope)Santa is bringing a big screen plasma. Some of the NFL networks commercials are hilarious(not the ones with Peyton Manning!)other than that,it's not so special. I think it was Thursday night, but it may have been Saturday night, when Deion Sanders was asked about the Pats running game holding up against the Dolphins, when snow was predicted. He said something about having never seen cheetahs run in the snow. I usually love Deion so this hit a sour note with me. The talking heads think they are so funny, and the NFL network is full of them.

DirecTV
I have DirecTV and so I have no worries. It is a good channel. While they don't have the wall-to-wall programming like ESPN, Total Access is good, the NFL Replays are great and the 'Americas Game' programs on Superbowl winners are outstanding.
Yes, greed is involved here, but please, don't act surprised. Oh, and 'the most historic game in NFL history'?.... umm, not so sure about that. :)

Why are you not so sure?
IF New England wins, and IF any number of records are set or are broken, why wouldn't it be the most historic game?

Because...
...when New England wins and sets all kinds of records, it will still pale in historical significance to the game they're going to win in early February.

Exactly...
It is a significant and historic regular season game, but that's it. Winning 16 games is a great accomplishment, but when a 10 or 12 win team can win the Superbowl, how can winning 16 in the regular season be the 'most historic game in the league'?
Look, I want 16-0. I do. But when asked that famous hypthetical: 'would you rather 15-1 and win the Superbowl?'... sorry, but that's easy. Hell yes, I would.
Now that they are 15-0, of course I am dying for Sat. night (I'll be there, in fact) and I will be going crazy when they win. However, the best way to judge whether or not 16-0 is an accomplishment that will 'resonate through the corridors of time' (thanks Bob Costas) is to ask: what will be remembered if they lost inthe playoffs? The truth is, not much. Look at the 15-1 Vikings in '98. Until this year, because of the scoring record, most people had forgotten all about them.
Anyway, my point is this: 19-0... now THAT is the greatest accomplishment in the history of this league. I can't wait for it to happen. Enjoy it, boys!

Game On..
I guess every one is now happy that every one can watch the game tonight :-)  I'm up here in Canada, and can't believe how fortunate I am to be able to watch my team's attempt at making history.

BTW, great site you have here :-)
