The SB may be Bruschi's last game

Check out this link from the Herald.                                                         http://bostonherald.com/sports/football/patriots/view.bg?articleid=1068207                                                                                             Pay special attention to this Quote, Said Bruschi about his upcoming journey to Arizona: "I'm overjoyed. I'm elated. I'm excited. It's going to be a great finish for me to go out there and hopefully we can win this game and finish the year off."

Could be.
For one, I was surprised to see him back this year.  End of last he was painfully slow dropping (I typed 'dripping' the first time--aptly enough) into coverage and moving side-to-side.  Honestly, if Gates doesn't have an injured toe, that's a touchdown on Sunday.  Great play and all, but there's no way he covers a healthy AG.

I'd like to see him play a great game (shut down the Jake-train and that scary little scat-back they have), collect a ring and honorably hang them up.  I feel like he's gotten it done on wisdom and want-to this season and I'd hate to live through a painful on-field decline with him.  Better to go out on top of the mountain, like Jim Brown, John Elway.

Love Bruschi!
But if he does decide to hang it up after this, what better way to go than on the tail of a perfect season?!?

I believe...
...his contract is up this year and would go into free agency for the '08 season.  I had a link a few months back, but can't scrounge it up.

I'll bet Seau would retire, too
Good thing we have the seventh pick in the draft -- we're going to need some LBs!

Yeah. Who do you think they'll get in a trade?
The chances the Patriots draft a linebacker with a top 10 pick are very slim. Much better chance they trade the pick of a bona fide LB (or other player) and a later-round or 2009 pick. But that's my opinion.

I'm not sure any LB...
...in this year's draft is worth the seventh pick.

But a late first rounder this year and a first next year might make a good trade, and there are enough good LBs worth taking in the second half of the first round.

Ride off into the Arizona Sunset
Remeber when Tedi was an undersized DE drafted by the Tuna out of Arizona, having at the time broken the late Derrick Thomas' all time NCAA sack record?

He's had a great career, 3 Super Bowl rings already, and a fourth one on the way.  Let's not forget he's getting up there in age (in NFL LB terms) and it wasn't long ago this guy had a stroke for god's sake!

Frankly if he didn't retire after winning the Super Bowl in the same state he went to college after a perfect 19-0 season - I'd be shocked.

#54 will be remembered forever as one of the all-time great Patriots, and he'll be missed.

Not Posterity
If Bruschi feels that he can still play, he'll play. If he came back from a stroke with 3 SB rings already on his hand, a place in Patriots history forever cemented, and a wife that begged him to retire then why did he come back at all? Because he loves the game. If he retires after the SB, it's because he doesn't feel he has enough in the tank to finish another season. This is why he is a fan favorite. His joy of playing (and winning, of course,) and love for his teammates is seemingly genuine and overpowering. We'd all like to see him ride off in the sunset a winner, but make no mistake about it, he won't do it to preserve a legacy.
