Sunday Football Open Thread

Plenty of games this Sunday. If you feel so inclined, drop a comment or two about a matchup you're watching. A great start to a Sunday of football, I sat on metal bleachers in 41 degrees at Burlington High and watched one nephew trounce the other's Pop Warner team. My wife's making tacos and bean pot stew for later while I have a chicken soup going on the stove. Come on over! ;-)

NYG vs. 49ers
Burress gets called for pass interference and it was a good call. Coughlin exchanges words and Burress is firing back. Everybody’s patting him on the back…poor poor Plaxico. Whiney little brat.

Bills vs. Bolts
Bills take it 23-14 on 3 Rivers turnovers: 2 fumbles (ball swinging in the wind) and an interception.

sounds like a good set-up over there
Watching the games, a bit detached from the outcome, is about as relaxing as it gets. That we’re rooting for Buffalo to lose – to keep them at 4 wins – instead of rooting for San Diego to win may just be semantics, but that’s how we’ve had to justify it this afternoon.
Keep the faith!
Ditto
I was hoping for division rival Buffalo to blow chunks, but Rivers managed to give ’em a few gifts.

I rooted
against the Chargers in this one…and I do have an explanation. A) As hopeful as I am that we can continue the trend of thrashing them in the playoffs it would be just as fun to see them miss the post-season and B) (and I say this as a positive Pats fan still hopeful that we go all the way) Between Miami/Jets/Buffalo I would rather the Bills take the division over the other two. They’ve had it rough for awhile and I really hold have no hostile feelings towards them. If we can’t be there I’d be happy to cheer them through.
And that’s the way it is.

GB vs. Indy, 27-7
GB looks very good, stats that is (I can’t watch the game). Rodgers is very dominating and Manning has a 50% completion on passes. Harrison and Wayne are being held for little yardage.

ugh
I’m seriously depressed now about the Sox. Anyway, about football:
I was not expecting so much offense from either the Bears or the Vikings. Well, “offense” is probably the wrong word, and perhaps “scoring” is a better term. An ugly and yet beautiful football game.
Seattle has really fallen far in a short time. Their descent to mediocrity has been even more rapid and pronounced than ours — and my Washington friends at work don’t seem to have a lot of optimism that they’ll turn it around any time soon.
