We've got Fredo coming to town
Mark Farinella of The Sun Chronicle reported in his blog what I heard this morning live on WEEI's Dale and Holley show. It sure made my mid-morning drive down the Pike much more pleasant.
"I know it was you, Fredo."
Patriots' defensive tackle Ty Warren brought down the house during the "Patriots' Monday" programming on WEEI this morning.
Appearing on the "Dale & Holley Show" with Dale Arnold and Michael Holley, Warren was asked how the Patriots were viewing the short turnaround from the Bills' game on Sunday to the Jets' visit to Foxboro on Thursday.
"Well," the soft-spoken Warren said, "we've got Fredo coming to town."
What followed was about a solid 45 seconds to a minute of convulsive laughter by the hosts and Warren's teammate, Vince Wilfork, who was sharing the interview time.
For about the 1 percent of the U.S. populace that still hasn't seen "The Godfather," Warren was referring to Jets' coach Eric Mangini as Fredo Corleone, the slow-witted son of Don Vito Corleone, who was passed over in the hierarchy of the crime family by brothers Santino ("Sonny") and Michael, as well as adoptive brother Tom Hagen.
In "The Godfather, Part 2," Michael Corleone learns that his brother Fredo arranged an unsuccessful assassination attempt at the Corleone family's Lake Tahoe compound. In a memorable scene set in Havana on the eve of the success of the Castro revolution, Michael (played by Al Pacino) grabs Fredo (played by the late John Cazale) in the middle of a dance floor, surrounded by New Year's Eve revelers, and kisses Fredo on the lips in the symbolic Sicilian "kiss of death," saying, "I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart."
I guess we now know how the Patriots feel about Mangini. But I really don't want to see Bill Belichick kissing the portly Jets' coach on the lips.

i mis-read at first...
…and thought it said, “We’ve got Frodo coming to town.” And my reaction, of course, was wondering what the heck hobbits had to do with football.

I've got a post up on stampede blue
advocating rooting for the Pats to win Thursday.
The idea is I trust them more to pull away in the AFC East, instead of letting it stay in a big pile that the Colts have to sort past to get a WC berth.

Yeah,
we’ve already been hashing through all the WC possibilities, and your guys have the tie-breaker on us so I’d just rather make it easy on ourselves and just win the division outright. Not asking too much is it? These players don’t seem to understand the stress the average fan goes through each time they play.
Keep the faith!

Stress..
LOL! They also have no idea what the point spreads are doing to me. Is it too much to ask for an extra TD with 8 minutes left on the clock?? Sure, a FG would win the game, but c’mon, man….show some effort!
