Patriots to Pursue Nnamdi Asomugha??

ESPN Matt Williamson is reporting that the Patriots already have interest.  I hear that he is a top cover corner, but he didn't look that great against Moss last weekend.  I think this is what they need, I cannot watch another season of O'Neal and Hobbs getting lit up.  I believe he would be able to easily replace Asante Samuel from the past couple seasons.

Asomugha is the best CB in the league

I didn’t see the Pats-Raiders game, but they said before the game that he was going to shadow Welker. It may have been like the Falcons game where both WRs ended up with good numbers because they pulled Asomugha off the #1 and put him on the #2 because the 2 was killing them.

Or he gave up like the rest of the team had weeks ago.

He won’t come cheap. He’s probably looking to top Nate Clements deal (which was an insane 8 years 80million). He’s at least getting the kind of money Champ Bailey got a few years ago (7 years 63 million).

It would definitely be a radical change from what the Pats have been doing in the secondary.

He's not superman

But he is considered among the best and is sick of losing in Oakland. Problem is his Dline doesn’t get any pressure and he can’t chase WR forever. He would certainly be welcomed in Foxboro, if our defense returned to what it was a few years ago we’d be fierce.

There’s a lot of interesting offseason possibilities for the Pats, and that includes whether to just let Cassel go or to try and get something for him.
