Around SBN: Odds On Peyton Manning's Next Home Includes Three Teams

Belichick or Parcells

Fair disclosure, I am a Colts fan.  I see a very interesting scenario developing in the final week.  If New England beats Buffalo (and I assume they will) and Baltimore wins, then the Miami-Jets game will become a meaningless game for the Jets.  In other words, Mangini will be able to determine which team makes the playoffs (Miami or New England).  In other words, does Parcells or Belichick make the playoffs.  My question is, based on their history, does Mangini have more contempt for Parcells or Belichick?

The views expressed in these FanPosts are not necessarily those of the writers or SBNation.

It won't work that way

The Jets will need to play to win in case we lose. If we lose and they win, they win the division. As it stands now, our game against Buffalo is at 1pm. The Jets and Dolphins play at the same time, so they won’t know if their season is meaningless or not while they’re playing. Good for us, that’s all I can say.

Denver-San Diego game flexed

The Denver San Diego game has been moved to the NBC Sunday night game. That was the only CBS game scheduled for 4:00. They will have to move at least one more game in that time slot. Right now, the Miami-Jets looks like the best alternative. If they move that game and New England and Baltimore wins, that would mean the Jets would be playing for nothing. They would know if they win that game New England makes the playofs and if they lose, Miami does. Could create an interesting scenario.

Yeah.

And the league doesn’t allow both the Jets and Giants to play at the same time, so that makes it even more likely.

baltimore/jacksonville?

Not sure how the rules of flex scheduling work exactly, but wouldn’t this also be a pretty attractive candidate for flex? Regardless of the other games outcomes, this one would be all-but guaranteed to have a playoff implication unless New England and New York both lose in the early slot?

This whole thing...

…is wicked weird. I have a post that’s brewing in my mind. But, after snowblowing for hours and shots of Maker’s Mark with my neighbor, I’m less clear about the possibilities. I’ve also lost track of where the semicolon is and it’s my favorite punctuation mark. Oh well…

players

don’t throw games. Mangini can’t ‘decide’. His job is on the line already, if they play like shit he could be canned.

I agree with you

Interesting to discuss from the comfort of home, but when it’s game-time I just can’t envision the Jets not playing to win. They hate us, but they hate the Phins too…especially with Pennington over there.

don't worry

both the jets-dolphins game and the ravens-jags game were flexed to the 4pm slot. So even if the pats take care of business at 1, the jets could get in if the ravens lose. they have something to play for even knowing the pats are 11-5. if it’s close and the ravens are up 44-3, that’s a different story. but the ravens aren’t playing the cardinals, so hopefully that won’t happen.
