The Cleveland Plain Dealer has updated its initial report regarding the Browns' interest in Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli.
Writes Mary Kay Cabot:
Scott Pioli, the New England Patriots Vice President of Player Personnel, is believed to be very interested in the Browns general manager job and is expected to interview for the position soon, multiple league sources told The Plain Dealer today.
The Browns have been granted permission by the Patriots to interview Pioli and could talk to him as soon as Tuesday. Pioli has also been contacted by either the Kansas City Chiefs or Detroit Lions and will interview for that job as well, a source said.

In my humble opinion...
unless Kraft shows him some big-time love, Pioli is gone.

To repeat:
Noooooo!
I get the impression that it’s more about authorities than cash. I think he’s looking for Tuna-like overseer status, and I don’t think he’s going to get that here. Might be out the door…
As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about. --Shaun of the Dead

I have heard
As much as I personally love the Krafts, I have heard that father and son are not the easiest people to work for. It may tie in with what you’re thinking about Pioli’s current authority and he may want to a bit more his own man.
