Classy Steelers
Take notes Eagles, Chargers, idiots.
"We consider the tapes of our coaching staff during our games against the New England Patriots to be a nonissue," the statement said. "In our opinion, they had no impact on the results of those games."
That is, I think, the only right answer. Sean Salisbury deserves some kudos for standing up on behalf of the Patriots in this witchhunt, too.

Spectre
There is no way the other owners and coaches are going to let their league be demeaned and destroyed by these allegations.
This is Spectre --
Specter said he believes the undercover activity was helpful to New England, but he said it will be difficult to prove because league officials destroyed all the tapes and notes confiscated from the Patriots.
"The Steelers played the Patriots on four occasions. And according to counsel for commissioner Goodell, there were notes showing that the Steelers games had been taped," Specter told reporters in Washington. "They played the Steelers on Oct. 31, 2004, and then in the playoffs (on) Jan. 27, 2005, but without the notes available, it's not really possible to make a determination as to how extensive the taping was."
Later in his news conference, Specter said, "I would like to have an opportunity to review those notes. I'd like to know what they said about the Steelers game."
And this is Rooney's staement-- via a spokesman...
Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett, speaking on behalf of chairman Dan Rooney and president Art Rooney II, nearly echoed the players' remarks.
"It's in the past. That's our position on it," Lockett said. "They didn't think it had any impact on the games."
Spectre has threatened the NFL on numerous occasions regarding their anti trust status...he should be investigated himself for an abuse of power and willful misuse of taxpayer money..

What was he planning to do????
The Steelers knew they were being taped and could just have easily used that to THEIR advantage, by faking signals or switching them around. They don't have a problem with it (and probably had a few videotapes lying around at some point themselves), so why, why, why is this so important to Specter???
They're going to fly in Walsh, wine and dine him, absolve him of his sins, allow him get away scot free with stealing property from his former employer, and then trust that whatever he tells or shows them is the absolute, unadulterated word of god. Belichick is already guilty, and Specter wants him suspended or banned completely. His mind is already made up and he just needs the missing proof -- any missing "proof" will do, even if it needs to be scraped off the bottom of Matt Walsh's shoe -- to get to his real agenda -- punishing the Patriots for beating his Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Any investigation...
While opposing fans are reveling in the current misfortunes of the Patriots, they're missing a very clear and obvious point: Specter will come after the NFL, not just the Pats. Every coach, league official, player and hotdog vendor has skeletons in his or her closet. That's why the smart ones are coming out with statements like the above. Nobody in the NFL wants an investigation. And I, as a taxpayer, don't want to see a giant waste of taxpayer dollars lining lawyer's pockets (apologies to the decent lawyers reading this).
