Around SBN: Sean Keeley's Week 12 College Football Buffet

Tough one to stomach

I was walking around today [monday] in a fog like feeling like someone died. Ok, the vodka shots I drank after the game to kill the pain may have had something to do w/ it. But to say I was depressed would be an understatement. Hell, last year when they lost to the colts I felt like I was gut punched. This year it was more like a kick to the groin.

You're not alone.
Dazed and confused.  Depressed is an understatement.  Lost...ungrounded...all appropriate adjectives.  I'll regain my footing but it will take a while.

We refused to watch any sports networks, so last night we flipped to FOX News to catch it just as Bill O'Reilly is announcing that the Giants were a "Team of Destiny."  I don't know what he meant by it because we were all diving for the control to make his lips stop moving.

One interesting note.  In Charles Pierce's book, "Moving The Chains.  Tom Brady and the Pursuit of Everything" there is a paragraph on page 197 regarding Tom Brady's appearance on Saturday Night Live in April 2005.

"In the meetings," recalls Lorne Michaels, the creator and producer of SNL, "he was willing to express his opinion.  I found him open and thoughtful, and he pretty clearly was open to what we thought might be funny for him to do.  He came to play, as they say."  However, there was a skit involving the Philadelphia Eagles, whom the Patriots had defeated in the Super Bowl two months earlier.

"He was open to everything," Michaels explains.  "But he was worried about the stuff with the Eagles, that it might be disrespectful.  He was willing to make fun of himself, but I got the feeling he didn't want to be mean about anyone else."

How's that sound, compared with Michael "Today we wanted to punch them in the face" Strahan and the Giant's gracious victory tour. Shoot, and I used to like Strahan.

Okay, this recovery might take a bit longer than I thought.

Keep the faith!

I promise you will not be able to resist smiling while you watch this. Life is too short to be down about the loss of a football game for very long.
