That Camera Thing
I am loathe to bring this up. I'm not sure why I would want to ressurect this issue, but I must: Spygate. 3...2...1... Hmm... I haven't burst into flames. Paul Revere didn't ride by me on his trusty steed, dump lamp oil over my head and exclaim, "1 lamp or 2?" Noone even dumped a full Sam Adams on me either (ok, no self respecting Bostonian would dump decent beer on the likes of me).
At what point can we forget about this? At what point does this become a non-issue and we can concentrate on playing football? At what point will I/we stop writing about this? Probably never. It will always be out there no matter how much we try to sweep it under the rug. Or, no matter how much the football elite say, It's time to move forward. Yes, boys and girls, that was Bill Polian, President of the Indianapolis Colts, proclaiming we're done with this, fini, finished, toe tag it.
Of course, a number of the Patriots faithful, myself included in that list, have held this up as a shining example of vindication, of what we've been saying all along: Spygate was no big deal. That it was managed properly, all the way from the punishment handed down to Belichick and the Patriots, to the destruction of the tapes Senator Specter is so concerned about (let us not forget Specter is the senator from Pennsylvania and the Eagles were just another speed bump on the path to regular season perfection). However, I have a different theory: dragging Spygate on is simply bad for business. As much as we the fans love watching "The Game", the players and coaches battling it out on the field, the NFL is a business and a very successful one, too. T-shirts, cups, video games, NFL Network, it's all part of a money making machine and what do businesses do when that money making machine may be in danger of blowing a gear? All the mechanics jump to fix it. Polian is one of those mechanics. One of our most hated rivals "standing up" for the Patriots? I doubt it. Polian and Pioli can barely be in the same room together.
What Polian, and many others, did recognize was that this is bad for the "business" of football, bad for everyone. So he jumped out of the truck with wrench in hand and started fixin'. Or maybe he was asked to do it, who knows. Who better to be a spokesperson for lifting up the rug and sweeping? If Bill Polian, President of the Indianapolis Colts and our biggest rival, is willing to call an end to this, isn't it time? Isn't it the right thing to do? Well, it's certainly the right thing to do for football, for the business of football that is. After all, who wants a Senator lifting up the covers on the NFL? What else would crawl out from under THAT rock?

Yeah.
I can tell you from experience, that some people will never let this go. We Colts fans still get people talking about the “midnight ride” from Baltimore to Indianapolis like it was last week. Some people don’t know when to let go.
I am a football fan, a Colts fan, but first and foremost, I am a human being, so I refuse to lower myself to the level of those who make personal attacks based on someone’s team choice. I saw people outside the RCA Dome selling offensive t-shirts about Tom Brady last fall. It really irritated me. You know, the pastor of my church is a Pats fan, and we get along just fine. We have a friendly rivalry going, we tease each other, but that’s where it stops.
As I said in another thread, I want spygate to go away also. I agree with Bill Polian. Let’s see the evidence, make whatever changes/consequences are deemed necessary, and MOVE ON for cryin’ out loud! Let’s get back to just playing football!

Agreed
This will never go away, no matter what Matt Walsh does or does not have as “evidence” to show the league. It’s the nature of the beast, I guess. But even as a Pats fan, it’s time for this thing to be -if not buried- than at least put to rest and not endlessly speculated upon and added to.
Enough already!
Keep the faith!

LOL
I found that whole thing hilarious. Word is Steinbrenner is going to sue the dude which I again find hilarious. Maybe the Lucas Oil Stadium general contractor should’ve done background checks on all of the workers to make sure there were no Pats fans. Too funny…
