Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

What exactly will hit the fan May 13th?

Time for Matt Walsh to finally put up or shut up.

Star-divide

According to Mike Fish , "Former New England Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh, who has told ESPN.com he has potentially damaging information about the team's taping practices, reached an agreement Wednesday to meet with league officials and turn over any videotapes he might have to support his allegations."

First of all, it's about time.  Beginning the new season with every single talking head and blogger on the planet prefacing each mention of Belichick or the Patriots with a Spygate reference would not only be unfair, but completely and utterly revolting.  Let's just see what he's got and get the entire distasteful affair out in the open and over with.

It has been my contention that this investigative process has taken so long because Walsh doesn't actually have the Rams practice tape he once insinuated that he had.  All of the nit-picky legal indemnification and protection is to protect him from having the Krafts sue the pants off of him once it comes out.

My guess is that the only thing that will hit the fan on May 13th is a lot of hot air.

Dragging on

I agree. Live or die, whatever happens, I just want it to come out and be over with. I am tired of all the legal dancing. Just let the man show his evidence (or lack thereof), and have some consequences, if deemed necessary.

Then let’s get on with the football. November 2nd, circled on my calendar! I’ll be there this year!

I'll be there too

I have season tickets for the first time, and just in time for the new digs to open up.

As for the Walsh thing, just dismissing him as a thief is sorta shortsighted. If he has evidence of cheating directed from the highest levels, stealing that evidence or not it’s a good thing to come out, for the good of the sport. I mean, what would be his motivation? Bitterness over being a golf pro in Hawaii rather than enduring Boston Winters? WHy would he create the tapes on his own? To watch at home? Doesn’t make sense that this is all just a creation of Matt Walsh.

I’m guessing there are tapes and then an email or two that link the creation of those tapes to at least an assistant coach. I may think Belichick is a rules flaunting ass, but he’s not stupid enough to not think of plausible deniability.

Either way, I’ll just be glad when this is over and we can get to the regular season.

well...

He is going to have absolutely nothing new. There have been numerous reports that he was bitter over what happened when he was fired, and still wants to get even. He didn’t come out until after Spectre got involved, and his intent is to get his 10 mintues of fame.

My belief is that he has nothing new to present in the case. I am sure he has evidence of being told to tape defensive signals from the other team. Great… that evidence has been presented, the pats pled guilty, got fined and moved on. Tapes for a football team are controlled items, each one numbered before it is used, and kept track of. Don’t you think that if a tape was missing, they would have known about it? If walsh has a tape, I am betting it was of his own making, and as such can’t be presented as evidence of anyone BUT walsh breaking the rules.

Thirdly, Bellichick has known this information was going to come out for months now. I am sure Kraft pulled him aside and said, “BB, is there anything else to know about?” BB is not stupid. He is actually an extremely intelligent guy, and he is not about to play games at this point. He fessed up everything he did to Goodell, even though we might not know all of it.

In the end, May 13th will come and go and the only thing productive to come out of it will be the blooming of the flowers in my backyard.
