Specter drops "probe"
"Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., who threatened a congressional inquiry into the way the National Football League handled its "Spygate" investigation of the New England Patriots' videotaping practices, said he will not seek hearings on the matter, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.......Specter said he didn't seek a hearing on Spygate before the Judiciary Committee because the committee already has "too much to do," the Daily News reported. "
This guy is just another blowhard who uses his political leverage to try and get things done when they do not benefit him....the last sentence in the article is what gets me. For someone so hell bent on making sports a fair and balanced game and then posturing in the national media, his stance on the basketball allegations is somewhat confusing...
"As for other sports scandals, Specter said he's "not interested" in recent allegations made by former NBA referee Tim Donaghy claiming that the league influenced referees as to the outcome of playoff games."

A monkey off their back
Amazing. Simply amazing that this ever went as far as it did. Specter wanted a Major League Baseball-like investigation into spygate similar to the steriods fiasco/Clemens love-fest reality show type “hearings” put on earlier this year. Frightening thought, and even more frightening mis-use of our government’s time and energy.
The major league difference here though is that steroid use is illegal, whereas the Patriots’ videotaping procedures broke NFL rules. I would have thought Specter would have turned his attentions to the story regarding convicted steroids dealer David Jacobs, who turned in a list of NFL players/customers before his death. Guess Specter’s not really interested in illegal steroid use by players whose team’s owners “enjoy an antitrust exemption”, and not in possible game-fixing by the NBA either.
Maybe none of those issues affect his beloved Eagles, or his connection to Comcast?
Keep the faith!
Specter
I’ve struggled mightily to stay out of yet another Spygate story, but I don’t think I can. This angers me to the point of distraction and needs to have some attention focused on it.
I'm still waiting...
Why is it so important for this blowhard for Congress to investigate alleged spying in a football game, but not at all important for Congress to investigate confirmed spying by the executive branch of the federal government that violates the Constitution?
