Sources: Brady tore ACL and MCL
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee, NFL sources confirmed today. Medical tests on the knee, including an MRI performed Monday, indicated no damage to other knee ligaments and no torn cartilage. The typical course of action for such an injury is to wait 4-6 weeks for the MCL tear to heal, then reconstruct the ACL. Brady will likely undergo surgery in approximately one month and face 6-9 months of recovery and rehabilitation, barring any complications. Patriots training camp begins in mid to late July, a little more than 10 months from now.

I’m not really sure on the protocol of injured/players and game day… is Brady expected to be on the sidelines as much as possible to help Cassel and show team support? Is it not necessary? Just curious. It seems he has quite a recovery ahead of him…

I'm thinking, maybe booth.
If anyone can predict Belichick (and they can’t), I’d guess he’ll want to minimize distractions. TB is supposed to rest the MCL for 4-6 weeks anyway, to let it heal, and BB’s rule is generally “if you’re not playing, you don’t travel.” If Brady comes to NY, it’ll be on his own dime.
On the bench, I’d think he’d be more a detriment to MC than a help. The team needs to start thinking of Matt as their leader, and having the old general around while the new one whips up the troops isn’t likely to help them focus on the task at hand.
But that’s just my guessing.
As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about. --Shaun of the Dead

Belichick said...
…in a presser Tom would do what the Doctor’s said. That may mean no flying around and standing on a football field. I’m trying to find the NFL rules regarding his level of participation, but haven’t has of yet. Good question!!

brady
Brady loves to strategize so I wouldn’t be surprised if he helped Bill watch film, but obviously he will be taking things easy with his surgery approaching.

one person makes a difference
our defense will have to pick up the pace. I am surprised that we havent resigned Lynch back now that it is after the first week or Ty Law to help secure the backfield better.. We could use the veterans even if it is to help out to secure the defense better. Also the offensive line will have to be a brick wall again like last year. If they give him the time to throw then he will be fine. He throws and looks like a Brady jr in the pocket.. If the defense also steps up and forces turnovers and 3 and outs then we will be fine.. We could have a nobody off the streets in that position and still win.. There is a lot more talent on this team if people would pull out the timbers in their eyes and look.. I think we still have a shot at a perfect season.. I remember a nobody that came off the bench when the all-star got injured and we won the superbowl… Lets give him a chance dang he went 13 of 18 from the field that is a 180 from the preseason…. Does anyone think that the perseason was played with blaw simple plays.. BB didnt really show much of our good plays or his plans for the regular season either. It might be a ploy to show that he couldnt do it… It would be a good mental game to other teams. You never know with BB… If it is then i would pat him on the back… It is an interesting way to get an edge..
