Patriots Worst Regular Season Losses - Where Does Sunday's Performance Rank?
Running with the dubious theory that the best cure for a headache is to smash your foot with a hammer, Mike Reiss recalls other "forgettable" regular-season losses and wonders where last Sunday's game would rank among them.
For Reiss, here are his contenders that occurred during his tenure:
- Sept. 7, 2003 - Bills 31, Patriots 0. The Lawyer Milloy Game - in which the safety signed with the Bills after being surprisingly cut in New England, and provided Buffalo an inspirational presence.
- Nov. 12, 2006 - Jets 17, Patriots 14. On a rainy day at Gillette Stadium, Eric Mangini and the Jets steal a victory with a controlled passing game and attacking defensive scheme.

- Oct. 31, 2004 - Steelers 34, Patriots 20. Cornerback Ty Law is hurt as the Patriots' 21-game winning streak (including playoffs) comes to an end.
- Dec. 20, 2004 - Dolphins 29, Patriots 28. At 12-1, the Patriots lose a stunner to the one-win Dolphins and interim coach Jim Bates.
- Dec. 16, 2002 - Titans 24, Patriots 7. After three straight wins to improve to 8-5 and provide hope for a playoff push, the Patriots can't match the Titans' plan to run out of spread formations in a Monday Night Football clash.
- Dec. 10, 2006 - Dolphins 21, Patriots 0. Jason Taylor and Co., dominate against Tom Brady in Miami.
- Nov. 7, 2005 - Colts 40, Patriots 21. The team's winning streak over the Colts comes to an end.
Personally on the pain scale, I have to put the 2005 loss to the Colts at the top (bottom?) of my list. The loss to end the 21-win streak on Halloween was a bit like Sunday's game, in that they looked out of it from the beginning.

Colts suprise party
Just because I am a jaguars fan I love the patriots and follow them intensely as well as share the hate for the Colts. The worst loss I ever saw was the November 7th game against the Colts in which the Colts pumbled the Pats 40-21. After that game everyone talked about how the Colts were so godly and awesome (especcially Jim Mora). The second worst loss was last weeks game against the Dolphins. The only reason why it was not the worst loss was because we were missing the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL, Tom Brady. It is really not impressive to say that you beat Matt Casssel and the Dolphins should not brag about it.

I see where you are coming from, but Brady doesn’t play defense

We cut cards, and I "won"
The hubby had to take our little trick-or-treaters out around the neighborhood, and I won the coveted job of answering the door and handing out candy while getting to watch the big game of course. Wooo-wooo. The worst part was listening to a certain loudmouth declaring, “THEY’LL NEVER BE AT OUR LEVEL!! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!!!”
Come to think of it, since we won the Super Bowl that year, Joey Porter was right.
Keep the faith!

Bills Game
The 31-0 loss to the Bills was the worst for me. I’m always excited about the season opener, but that just sucked. Luckily it wasn’t a sign of things to come that year.

That was the game
that spawned ESPN’s Tom Jackson’s infamous quote, “They hate their coach,” that would come back to bite him.

Indeed
Not only that, but the Pats returned the favor at the end of the season with a 31-0 win over the Bills.
