FOXBOROUGH -- We will wrap up the night by touching on the injury situation with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady:
Patriots coach Bill Belichick told his team that Tom Brady's left knee injury could be bad and to prepare for Matt Cassel to be the quarterback going forward, an NFL source told the Globe's Christopher L. Gasper tonight.
The source could not confirm the Yahoo! Sports report of a torn ACL. WBZ-TV in Boston also confirmed that Brady has an ACL tear.
The NFL Network is also reporting that Brady is out for the season with a serious knee injury.
The Globe can not confirm those reports at this time, however, multiple sources are not expecting good news when the quarterback undergoes further tests on Monday. Brady is resting at home tonight and the Patriots are bracing for the likelihood he will miss the season.
The Globe's Christopher L. Gasper also confirms that the Patriots are hosting free-agent quarterback Chris Simms on a visit at Gillette Stadium on Monday.
Mike Reiss is one of the only sources I trust.
