Why The Chiefs Deserve Pioli
Dear Pats Fans,
You guys get a bad rap. It seems there are so many teams in the NFL, especially in the AFC, that absolutely despise the Pats. I am not among them, although some Chiefs fans are. I have tried explaining to my brethern in Chiefs Nation why the Pats are an organization that we should root for once our own team is out (translation: after week 6 in any year under Herm Edwards). I'll admit, I am kind of partial as my dad was born in Boston and taught me at a young age to hate the Yankees and the Lakers. But here is what the Pats have done that make you guys a personal favorite of mine in the AFC, outside of obviously my first and foremost allegience to the Kansas City Chiefs:
1. The Raiders hate you guys ever since the tuck rule. As the most hated division rival of mine, any team that pisses off the Raiders fan base makes me happy.
2. You guys have beat Peyton Manning and the Colts in the playoffs with consistency. My beloved Chiefs have a tendancy to lose to the Colts in the first game they play in the playoffs, no matter whose house its in. 1995, 2003, 2006. Everytime. The Colts have become my most hated non-division rival and I am eternally grateful for the number of times you have stifled Peyton Manning. Manning may be a great QB, but he has always had the weapons around him. I have watched Tom Brady win rings with second rate talent at WR, and put Tom in the same sentence as Joe Montana.
3. You exposed the Chargers for the cry-babies they are. LT, Rivers, Merrimen, all of them. Hate them. They are classless and cannot take it when a superior team with the greatest coach of his generation (or possibly ever) dominates them. I can always sleep easy at night knowing that as long as the venerable New England Patriots are in the playoffs, the Chargers will not see a Super Bowl ring (sadly, I must pin my hopes on teams that I do not have as much confidence in this season).
You have been the dynasty of this decade, and I do not expect your success to stop anytime soon. You have capable personnel in the front office and a coach that knows that it takes to win. I wish your franchise great success in the future, and I am sure that Scott Pioli has trained his successor well. We look forward to meeting you guys in future AFC Championship games. I cannot wait to see BB and Scott Pioli shake hands on the sidelines as genuine friends before that game. I will thank you in advance for allowing one of the brightest minds in the game to leave the nest and prove his value to a starving fanbase in the Midwest that so desperately needs to taste victory again.
Sincerely and with Best Wishes for 2009,
A Die-Hard Chiefs Fan

Lol, all valid reasons to like the Pats!
The Chiefs organization is a year late. If they had made a move sooner, you could’ve had Thomas Dimitroff running your team. Judging by the turnaround in Atlanta, that would’ve been a good pickup for you guys.
But Pioli? Well… I really hope Kansas doesn’t snatch him away from us. You understand, right? =)
I understand, but...
I understand why you don’t wanna lose a braintrust as rich as Pioli’s, but you guys have tasted so much success over the last decade. And I am confident that your franchise will endure after Pioli leaves the nest to prove himself elsewhere. The Patriots organization is a class act IMO (that spygate stuff was the most overblown BS sports-media circus I’ve seen since that doesn’t involve an aging 39-y/o QB too proud of his record for consecutive starts to do whats necessary for his team). And that Pats are that good.
But let me tell you why you OWE it to us to accept Pioli’s departure with grace: Lamar Hunt. That’s right, I’m pulling the trump card here. Your organization owes its very existence to the patience, dedication, and vision of the AFL’s founder. The Kraft family knows this, and the Krafts are second only to the Hunts in terms of most important families of the AFL/AFC. Bob and Lamar were great friends, and I have heard that Clark counts Bob’s son among his best friends among NFL ownership as well.
The Pats will endure without Scott Pioli, but the Chiefs have fallen on tough times and are in desperate need of a man with his talents.
Let me tell you why we don't owe you anything:
Have you seen some of the ridiculous football in these playoffs? If your team doesn’t shred Tom Brady’s knee, the Pats win the Super Bowl this year easily.
But if you do end up signing Pioli, best of luck to you, but remember you then owe us. And we’ll be happy to collect by having you beat up our division rivals.
...NO ONE DENIES THIS.

We can build on this!!
It’s too bad the Chiefs have fallen, and I hope Thiggy gets you back on track next season cause the Chargers need some competition. I don’t hold any grudge against the Chiefs for Brady’s injury, even though a fine for Pollard might have been appropriate given similar fines for similar hits.
Naturally we want to keep Pioli, but the Chiefs are not a team that will qualify him as a traitor, so that’s good at least.
"These players, a lot of other people didn't believe in them, but they believe in themselves. And that is all that matters."- Bill Belichick
That's the wierd thing...
…your team totally took out Brady (I don’t mean on purpose, but I just mean it was against KC where he got hurt) and yet I actually don’t mind if it were KC vs. NE in the AFC Championship next year… of course…..
I would like that to happen with some other brilliant GM/VP leading your team to victory, not Pioli, I love Pioli…. but hey, if he does go, at least it’s not the Colts, or Pitt, or the Jets, or Giants…. (I could go on, but I won’t…)
I didn't wanna see Brady go down either
I have some friends that are Jets fans and some friends that are Dolphins fans (hey, don’t trip, I also have friends that are Raiders fans and that is the franchise I most detest), and some actually thanked me after the game. I hurt some of my friendships by actually calling them out on the lack of class involved in celebrating someone’s injury. I personally enjoyed watching the greatest QB of my adult live tear up opposing defenses (when they weren’t my own) and even if it were a player that I have little respect for (Shawn Merrimen for example) I NEVER want to see a player seriously injured.
understood
I have no affection for Shawn Merriman whatsoever, but wasn’t gleeful over his injury or his placement on IR like the creators of the “Bernard Pollard Fan Club” t-shirts were of Brady. Just can’t see the joy in another’s serious injury and loss of a season.
Keep the faith!
It's quite sad
People seem to lose sight of the fact that it’s just a game. There should be no reason to cheer for someone else’s injury.
I wonder if they’d appreciate getting into a car accident and having a crowd gather to applaud THEIR injury?
Correct Me If I'm Wrong
Brady and Manning have met 3 times in the playoffs and Brady is 2-1. How is that considered beating someone in the playoffs consistently???
Fear not
your franchise has endured after losing so many bright minds, and I believe you will continue to succeed.
I look forward to seeing you in an AFC Championship game soon.
Best of luck to Pioli and Kansas City
The AFC West has gotten really interesting all of a sudden. With Pioli to the Chiefs and Josh McDaniels as new head coach for the Broncos, I’ll be paying close attention to your division to see how things shake out.
Oh, and if the first thing Pioli does is cut Bernard Pollard, I’ll officially be a Kansas City fan. Okay, I’m kidding. Kind of.
Thank You!
Great day for the Chiefs.
For the Pats…your 3 rings should make you feel better. Share once in a while, won’t you?
:) Thanks!
