Broncos-Pats AFC Championship Game
Not only would it be an incredible game with riveting sub-plots, but it would be quite the tribute to the football genius of Bill Belichick. Not only has he won three superbowls, four AFC championships and guided his team toward history's only 16-0 season, but he's also unleashed his protege on the AFC's most obnoxious division - the AFC West (really, they win that award just for the Chargers - thanks to Phillips, LT and Merriman).
Crennel and Weis weren't proteges, and Mangini left against Bill's advice (and, thus, without "the Bible"). But all with a short, 5-page paper (which I'm sure was properly formatted, double-spaced and meticulously spell-checked), he turns a boy, by NFL coaching standards, into what people now realize is one of football's most intelligent coaches. It's almost unfair - Bill just has genius to give away.
Okay, maybe that is a little too fawning, but wouldn't it be a great game?

I'll do my best Belichick (and by extension McD) impersonation
Right now were just trying to focus on Tampa Bay. We’ve got a short week here with all the traveling. It’s a long season, but we’re just taking it a week at a time.
That’s all the fans can do too.

Strike me down
for I have committed the gravest of sacrileges.
But come on…it would be awesome.

4 out of 5 New England cardiologists
recommend that if the Pats make the AFC Championship, they should play the Titans.

That makes me wonder what the fifth one is smoking...
“No way, man, no way. They have to play the Colts. No way man. I’m hungry…”

Playoffs?!?
Don’t talk about …playoffs!?! You kidding me…playoffs?!? Oooops. Sorry. Wrong head coach impersonation.

It would be good.
However, I don’t like to get my hopes up. Predictions even at week 8 are too early. Look at Denver last year. Look at the 11-5 Patriots sitting home when usually 10-6 will get you into the playoffs. There’s a whole lot of football left with plenty of chances for injuries and intrigue.
Possible story line: Titans emabrrassed in their 59-0 loss and 0-6 record, go into their bye week and emerge a force to be reckoned with. They win out, going 10-6 on the season and manage a wild card spot in the playoffs. There they beat the Bengals and Broncos on the way to their revenge on the Pats in the AFC playoff game. Good story, too.

Excellent story
and I’d love to see it unfold.
I’m not saying my prediction is realistic at this stage, but it’s also no completely unrealistic. Just like Power Rankings and Mid-season Report Cards, predictions are just for fun.
When the MLB season started, for example, I thought it would be incredible (and not unfathomable) if Torre took the Dodgers to the Series and beat the Yankees (though obviously I’d prefer the Sox be there). It was too early to make that prediction in April, but it was fun to think about. Now, it might happen.
Maybe I should put it this way, instead – it’s something I’m hoping for, because it’s a matchup I’d love to see (again). And it would be a gross display of Belichick’s awesomeness, which was my main point all along.

Yes, it's a good story
My point is that there are others out there as well and it is really, really early. I like the Broncos. There undefeated, so far, but 2007 showed us that being undefeated carries a horrible price. It’s a weight that gets heavier with each win, and a distraction that gets larger as the season rolls on. I wish them well, and if we meet in the post-season, I hope it’s in Foxboro. We’ll need any advantage we can get.

Absolutely
If I’ve learned anything from watching Brady play over the years, it’s that games in Denver are bad news for the Pats.

By hiring Joey Galloway...
who turns out 10 catch, 150 yard performances for every game of the rest of the season…
May as well dream big.

Dolphin's in Foxboro during frigid January?
I’ll take it every day of the week.
But can we call it a divisional game, instead? I’d prefer that Pats have the bye.

BTW, DIB, you didn't have to hide the fact you're female
Earn your credibility the same way the guys do. Knowing what the heck you’re talking about. The guys or gals that dont, have no credibility. Gender should never come into the conversation unless you bring it up.

Even if you hate Pats RBs
What’d LoMo ever do to the Dolphins? Oh. Wait.
by Comedic.Sans on Oct 22, 2009 5:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hey, I want to be as optimistic as I can about Limping Larry
but until he can string a few of those runs together, like the next 10 games. I will consider him a bust. If you have to roll the dice on run production: “Hey, let’s put Laurence out there.” “Yeah, he’ll give us between 0.9 to 7.7 yards per carry. Do you feel lucky?”
Tomlinson is between 2.1 and 6.9 this year, and people think he’s washed up.
Adrian Peterson got 6.5 YPC against the Ravens. LoMo got 0.9 YPC.
He has the potential, but that don’t win games.

Haha, I meant dolphinsinbuffalo
I checked the profile, and LoMo (and the rest of the Pats backfield) was in her post on the ’Phins site under the title “running backs I hate”. Hating LoMo? Sad.
