Bizzarre cuts

Clearly something is going on.  New deal for Vince?  Big trade?  Simply re-evaluating the performance of some players?    I am not sure what gives, but my hunch is that something is going on with respect to work visas and some of the players inability to obtain them in the UK.

Banta-Cain and Eric Alexander are my two best bets.  Perhaps there is something in there past, such as a criminal record, that has caused the UK to deny them entry.  If that is the case, I am guessing BB advised them they were to be "cut" for the week only and resigned next monday.   Just a guess, but I know in the past Martha Stewart, Snoop Dogg and other celebrities have been denied entry to work in the UK.   Don't know if either guy has any sort of record though.  What do you think?

I'm no expert on immigration law

but they aren’t being paid by a UK employer or being employed by anyone in the UK. I don’t think a Visa is necessary at all – just a passport.

That's all we needed to go.

And there'd be no need to cut them

If they can’t play, they can’t play. Put them on the game-day inactive list and leave them at home. If they can do it to Adalius Thomas, they could do it to Tully-Banta Cain. Cutting him and re-signing him suggests it was a money issue or something akin to that.

Hey hey! I was right

You can’t renegotiate the one-year deals Banta-Cain and Alexander were on, so they had to cut them and negotiate multi-year deals from there. And the reason they were cut now is so they could avoid having other teams try to sign them off waivers – a day later and they would’ve been able to be claimed.

Also, if it was a matter of not being able to get a visa, I’m sure the NFL would grant a one-week roster exemption.

According to USG and Bert Breer..

they are going to resign them shortly. So there goes another of my Patriots conspiracy theories. Be on the lookout for my next latest tome:

“How BB shot JFK and got away with it”

don't even think that comment...

Ron Borges and the rest of the media haters will pick it up and run with it for the next 3 years.

Keep the faith!

Wasn't JFK.

Now maybe Bobby or Jimmy Hoffa….

The more you know, the more you know that you don't know.

oh yeah...Hoffa...

…wonder if they’ll finally find his remains when they dig up the Giants’ Stadium end-zone.

Keep the faith!

Left him in the old Browns stadium

Ooops, meant to use the secrecy font.

I'm 99% sure there's a special type of visa for visiting sportsmen

but I’m not sure how prior convictions factor into it. I do know that several professional rugby players from New Zealand and elsewhere have been allowed to play for UK clubs after convictions, but I’m not sure whether the same standards apply to one-off events like the Pats playing at Wembley.

Even if they were denied entry to the UK, that’s no reason to cut them. They could’ve just been shuffled off to the game-day inactives and not travelled. Cutting them suggests different motivations entirely.

has to do with restructuring thier contracts the ways of nfl contracts are mysterious indeed grasshopper.

If AD isn't producing as we thought he would...

…and if he’s not playing, why didn’t we re-adjust his contract as well? If we’re not going to be playing him, and his contract is too expensive for us to trade him, what are we going to do with him?
