Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

Multiple Reports: Julian Edelman has a broken arm

Multiple on-line sites, including ESPN.com, NESN, are citing a report from the Boston Herald that WR Julian Edelman suffered a broken arm in New England's win over the Titans.

Star-divide

Don't know how to react to this other than to say, "Man, this sucks."  Given Galloway's play this season, I don't think keeping him on the roster even in light of this made a whole lot of business sense, but it does leave the team thinner at receiver.  Fortunately both Moss and Welker appear to be going full speed right now, but I wonder if we'll see more roster moves in the coming days to adjust to this development.

He did look like he got up holding his arm after one of his catches

But he stayed in the game. If his arm is broken, it can’t be that bad.

According to Mike Reiss:

Edelman’s final play came in the fourth quarter, when he caught a 4-yard pass from quarterback Brian Hoyer and was tackled by Tennessee cornerback Cary Williams. Edelman’s right arm took the brunt of the fall on the play.

And as Belichick would say, if it was season-ending, he’d be put on IR – and he’s not.

Keep the faith!

too bad

He was really playing well, even if perhaps people were crowning him “the next Wes Welker” a bit prematurely. He’s a good young player who is still just leaning the position, yet already making an impact. I’m really quite excited to think what this guy will be another year or two down the road after working with Belichick, Brady…and Welker…for a couple years.

To answer bbismyhero, it’s not necessarily season-ending. All depends upon which of the arm bones it is, where along the bone the break is, and how bad the break is. “Average” time for a complete recovery is usually considered 6-8 weeks…but again, that can vary GREATLY depending upon the extent of the break.

We'll know a little by when he comes back

If he’s out for four weeks, we’ll know it was a hairline fracture not on a joint. If he’s out for 6-8 weeks, we’ll know it was a little more serious.

So who is the third wideout now?

Sam Aiken? I ask because I’m wondering if I should pick Aiken up in fantasy.

I wouldn't

Yeah, he’ll be the third receiver this week, but what does that get you? 50 yards at most? And the Pats go into the bye week after that, with Tate likely to be ready for Miami.

sam aiken vs. terrence nunn? Who would you pick?

I’d like to see terrence perform. see how he does.

Crap, but good timing

With the Bucs and the bye coming up there the staff will have a couple of weeks to figure out what to do with Edelman. I hope he can be back, because he really has been the primary target after Moss and Welker.

With any luck

Tate will fill in nicely until he makes it back. Then, two good young WRs. Nice.
