Open Game Thread: Patriots @ Buccaneers
New England Patriots at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Oct 25, 2009 1:00 PM EDT

Wembley Stadium. Jolly old England. American Football in the land of Football. Apparently this game sold out rather quickly. I can understand that. We have a significant number of non-US fans we count as our digital friends. I'm excited for them. How often do they get a chance to see their favorite team? Our very own bartHML, all the way from Budapest, Hungary will be attending the game, taking notes, and writing a story for us. VERY COOL!!
With that said, let's get this thing started. Fire away.

For us: Wheatley, Ohrnberger, Simmons, Brace, Mini-Wes, Morris, Taylor, and Light.
For them: DT Dre Moore, RB Clifton Smith, DE Kyle Moore, CB Marcus McCauley, OL Shawn Murphy, OL Demar Dotson, OL Jonathan Compas, and emergency QB Byron Leftwich.
Wilhite, Bodden, Springs, Butler,
it’s crowded.

And Butler isn’t 100% either.

BTW,
Nice job with the interviews. I think you guys handled it just right — no fawning, and a couple of off the beaten track questions. (And everybody involved did a nice job of sponsor-pimping. That should get you called back, if nothing else.)

Yeah--
great question, something I have also noted (and written a little about here). With the push for an 18 game schedule, it’s something that should definitely be pushed to the front.

To be fair...
…it’s pretty easy when the QB stares at the receiver for three seconds and double clutches before ignoring the safety just waiting for him to throw an easy pick.
maybe he should have been a first rounder.
or maybe the 2nd and 6th round are the new first round…lol

Ugly.
We aren’t what we should be. Everybody got very excited by the flashy points last week, but this team is still not fundamentally sound, and Brady is included in that. Remember back to the Denver game — lots of unwise choices, and we still haven’t fixed our decision-making.

Not a great throw
But Tate has to do a better job fighting for balls like that, rather than falling down.
I disagree
It’s not the first time for him, and I don’t think you make up for being a violent jerk off the field by making good plays on it.
I'm less concerned about the picks in a game like this
I look at it as establishing the long ball. If it persists, that’s not good.

We look like shit against one of the worst teams in the league. This is a 14-7 ballgame, and our offense looks lost, disoriented, unfocused and weak. Easy killer.
It was a horrible play that we didn’t earn — it was a gift. I’m just not disposed to credit the defense for catching a gimme from a bad offense. I’m discounting, because I don’t think leading a team like Tampa is an indication of improvement when we’re going to be facing Indy soon. Or do you think FA or draftee?
We’re only halfway through. Maybe there’s more to come? Also, he can get lost in the shuffle. There are a lot of targets out there.

I think he's going to want more money than he's worth and the Pats will let him go
Baker can be a first stringer in the Pats’ offense, so unless Watson agrees to a reasonable contract, I’m betting they go with Baker and the best TE they can draft in the third or fourth round.

He’s looked pretty good the last few weeks.
He once traded an entire draft for a guy who was high
I don’t have a whole lot of respect for his ability as a talent evaluator.
Agreed.
He’s been surprisingly (to me at least) solid. Especially given last year’s deficiencies at the position.

You can’t ankle tackle the pass rusher!

Sympathy or not, when it's that blatant you have to call it

can we say that brady is better than manning coming off of injuries. manning= 4-4 through eight games on a 4 week injury
brady= 5-2 through 7 games off a year long injury

Brady stats should be a little better too right?
15 TDs – 4 INTs is pretty darn good for someone that hadn’t played in over a year. I think Manning had double the INTs at this point last year.
