Sunday Late Games Open Thread

Have at it gang.  Colts are 6-0, KC still stinks, Favre and the boys lose to Pitt, and Cleveland remains in the toilet.  Buffalo has Carolina and New York has the Raiders.  Miami has a tough one against New Orleans.  I think that's the game to watch.

Buffalo and Jets up 7-0, Miami 0-0

Would really like to see Miami-New Orleans, but we are getting Falcons-Cowboys here.

(As long as you don’t get Jets-Raiders you can’t really complain, I guess.)

Birds and Boys here as well.

I’d watch the Jets Raiders just on the chance that Oakland has more than one Philly game in them.

I had Jets - Raiders

It was some ugly football.

lots of “strategery” in my rooting today. going for bills over panthers because of the 2nd round pick. pretty smart, ehh!!!!

by sirpinochle on Oct 25, 2009 5:04 PM EDT reply actions

Looks more like the Saints are self-destructing

Two picks and only 4 completions by Brees? And giving up loooong TD runs suggests poor coverage and bad defensive scheming. Look at Ricky Williams’ rushing average, aha.

by Comedic.Sans on Oct 25, 2009 5:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Aha, Green Bay hammered Mangini's Browns

Derek Anderson – 12 from 29, 99 yards, 2 sacks and 1 int… didn’t get pulled. Awesome. Brady Quinn must be rated so badly it’s not funny.

The Saints fans were speculating about going 16-0

I told them that one of the side effects of being undefeated was increasing amounts of Don Shula. The condition gets really painful when bouts of Mercury Morris start appearing.

Keep the faith!

NO going backwards, apparently.

Surprised by the Jets score. I mean, I know it’s Oakland, but wow. I’m not wanting New Jersey to get feelin’ healthy…

The thing that got me

was their next possession, leading by 10, was three straight passes. Hadn’t they been running?

Key play: NO misses the PAT that would have put them up by 4.

I like Brees' two rushing TDs

If he would just add a third now, I’m pretty sure my fantasy team will win this week. :)

3 minutes i would try some runs rather relying on the arm of a young QB

Caronlina beat tampa on a drive where they threw the ball just once

by lololol on Oct 25, 2009 7:32 PM EDT reply actions

And Buffalo beat New Jersey because the Biplanes relied on the arm of a young QB.

by RSNexile on Oct 25, 2009 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Good thing they aren't relying on Ted Hands of Stone Ginn

4th and 14 hmmm....

Dolphins really imploded in this one…

by bbismyhero on Oct 25, 2009 7:39 PM EDT reply actions

But they gave us a blueprint to beating the Saints

All the Pats have to do is execute better and for the whole game.

by RSNexile on Oct 25, 2009 7:39 PM EDT up reply actions

secrets to beating the saints

- Run the ball
- Stop drew brees
- don’t implode

Oh yeah we actually have a QB who can make those harder passes and REcievers who can catch

by lololol on Oct 25, 2009 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Close

1) Run the ball.
2) Pressure Drew Brees. The Dolphins did a pretty good job of that.
3) Don’t make stupid mistakes.

The Phins abandoned #1 and blew it on #3.

by RSNexile on Oct 25, 2009 7:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Hmmm...

Are the Patriots capable of these things?

1) Run the Ball…not from what I’ve seen? Only good rushing game was against the Titans- haven’t been able to start it against a good team.
2) Pressure Brees. Haven’t seen consistent QB pressure.
3) Don’t implode. Seems like we’ve faltered in the 4th Quarter against good teams thus far. Hopefully that’s behind us.

NO has a pretty good secondary, so hopefully our Offense clicks and clicks early.

New York Jets running back Leon Washington is out for the rest of the season after fracturing his fibula in Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, a team source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Washington went down on his first carry when a defender rolled up on his right leg. He was helped off the field by two trainers and then taken away on a cart.

Washington had rushed for 325 yards on 71 carries this season before this game. The Jets shut out the Raiders 38-0.

Information from ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter and the Associated Press was used in this report.

Wow

Well, Thomas Jones is still a damn good back, but he’s going to have to carry the ball 25 times a game now.

Wow, Jets hit hard by injury bug.

Losing Washington is killer. Most explosive guy they have.

Fins D looked gassed

Time of possession was only 6 mins or so in NO’s favor, but they just looked like it was a tough day. Thoughts on Crowder? It appeared he was taking a beating by the Saints’ backs.

by MaPatsFan on Oct 25, 2009 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah, the D looked like they were on fire during the first half and then when the second half came around they were gone

It was a good game though, I’ll give our team that but the loss still hurts. I’ll be looking forward to next week when we get another shot at the Jets, I’m sure you guys can’t wait to get back at them.
