Around SBN: Can Tebow Say No To Anything?

The New England Patriots announced today that QB Tom Brady has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October by the National Football League. It is the third time that Brady has earned an AFC Player of the Month honor. He was the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September and October in 2007.

Brady led New England to a 3-1 record in October, including a 59-0 win over Tennessee and a 38-7 win over Tampa Bay. He completed 92 of 131 passes (70.2 percent) for 1,161 yards, 12 touchdowns and a 121.7 passer rating during the month. Since the 2006 season, Brady is now 12-1 (.923) in the month of October. Brady's 12 touchdown passes this October ranks first in the AFC and second in the NFL.

I guess on the stats it's deserved

but if it had gone to Manning, I wouldn’t have really trumpted Brady’s case for inclusion.

I would have given it to...

Brett Favre. Because every award, regardless of which conference it’s for, should go to him.

I’m being sarcastic.

Oh yes, of course

because the Jets are playing better, the passes are crisper, the running backs are running better, even when he’s not there, because of… his… ghost, or something. Uh. Yeah.

Brett Favre, AFC Offensive Player of the Month. He’s definitely offensive to the AFC.

Well in their defense...

…they don’t have a defense?

Or receivers for that matter.

I honestly don’t think it’s that hard to beat the Dolphins. Just stop the run and stop the Wild Cat. They have nothing after that. Eliminate the Ronnie Brown factor and the game is over.

It also helps that the Jets are playing them first so the Patriots get to see their new schemes prior to playing them the first time. I’m presuming that the Dolphins will have new tricks up their sleeve for the Jets rematch and all that means is the Patriots get to see the whole bag of tricks. What a treat.

just odd that he'd come over here to troll

when he’s got nothing to troll about at the moment. I wouldn’t like it but could at least understand it if they owned us in the last game or something.

Keep the faith!

Don't say that

you’re remind the Jets fans. Their only saving grace is a memory somewhat akin to goldfish. OMIGOD I REMEMBR WE 1.

Brady deserved the weekly award

but I honestly feel this is a bit fishy. As good and as improving Brady has been, Manning has been the player of the month in AFC IMO.

Of course, they will have a chance to settle the score soon enough…

Brady *might* have earned AFC O-player of the last two weeks

but even that has that whole “playing awful, awful teams” caveat.

Proves my point that this is a stats-driven league

with the Pro Bowl being the notable exception

Keep the faith!

Yes

Luckily, the final glory of the season won’t be decided by the numbers game but on the field.

by hythlodaeus on Oct 30, 2009 7:48 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed.

Manning or, if you’re going stats-wise, Matt Schaub could make a case.

And Phillip Rivers last year

Which really was a travesty. Brett Favre, Pro Bowl AFC? Seriously?

As Kent Brockman would say; “I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, democracy DOESN’T WORK.”

by Comedic.Sans on Oct 30, 2009 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That was just a farce. A complete farce.

It’s not a democratic vote if some meat-head can vote a gazillion times. Matt Cassel earned it more than the great and powerful Favre.

Keep the faith!

maybe he got a bonus

for coming off the injury

Hey MPF maybe we should switch to what he’s drinking instead.

Paint thinner

On the plus side, it makes the drinker sterile. So at least only one generation has to put up with it.
