FOXBOROUGH -- According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots are expected to sign Junior Seau this week. Schefter put a post on his Twitter page last night that read:
"Some stories and players never get old. Barring unforeseen, Patriots are expected to sign veteran 40-year-old LB Junior Seau this week."
Extra Points: Seau to return to Patriots

Can't hurt
but with Guyton playing like he has and the imminent return of Mayo, I don’t see Junior getting much burn.

My thoughts, too
This might’ve made more sense earlier, when Mayo was first injured and they were unaware of his status. Now, they’d have to free up a roster spot, they’re actually deeper at linebacker than they were before (given Mayo’s return), McGowan’s playing better than expected and earning a lot of reps in the middle of the defence, and Seau’s unlikely to play special teams, so he’s going to be a backup who doesn’t do the special teams duties they’d be expected to do to keep their spot. I’m actually baffled as to who they’ll drop out to allow them to pull Seau into the fold.

And only keep 4 WRs, considering one of them is Aiken?
Maybe if Welker and Moss had been 100% healthy. But going with two banged up vet WRs, one banged up rookie WR, and a career special teamer who is having severe route-running and catching issues, I don’t see it happening. Otherwise Slater would be the reserve/5th WR. Slater. Ben Watson has more dependable hands.

we have Terrence Nunn on the practice squad too
I don’t know, just throwing it up there. Although Galloway being a healthy scratch isn’t a good sign for him.
Keep the faith!

I remember that one play.
“Who caught that?”
“Aiken?”
“Aiken caught the ball?”
“Hey, I’m just a shacked as you are.”

I agree
Seau has been great, but signing him now can only hold back the development of the new defense’s identity and leadership.
There are swings and misses, but I love the faster, more aggressive approach this year.

DID anyone see what Rodney Harrison said about Brady?
He said he needed to take off his skirt and be a man regarding the roughing the passer call when suggs landed near his leg on a pass rush. I couldn’t believe he said that! Damn Rodney you need to back up your old team. I think it was great acting on Tom’s part. Anyone remember John Stockton?

He was joking!
He called Brady before he made the comments on-air and smiled after he said it.
Here are Harrison’s comments about it when he was interviewed on WEEI this morning:
“My gosh, it’s unbelievable, the kind of backlash with this,” Harrison told hosts Dale Arnold and Michael Holley. "Tom and I we’ve been friends for years. There’s no other person, no other football player maybe other than Junior Seau that I have more respect for.’’
“I texted Tom and told him, ‘Hey, Tom, I’m going to bust your chops a little bit at halftime.’ It was a joke, and everyone’s getting all bent out of shape,” Harrison said.
“This guy’s directly responsible for me having two Super Bowl rings on my fingers, and you think I’m going to call him out? It’s one thing to criticize a guy out if he’s not playing well. But to question a guy like Tom Brady, who I feel like is one of the toughest guys I’ve ever been around . . . It’s totally absurd, ridiculous, that people would actually think that I would take a shot at Tom Brady.”
Harrison admitted that he is stunned by the reaction.
Keep the faith!

He's basically a reserve player without a contract anyway
He said he’d only play for the Pats – in other words, they don’t have to sign him to keep him away from other squads. They don’t need to sign him at all – he’s waiting for the call, and they keep someone else in the roster spot in the meantime. If and when there’s an injury in the linebacking corps, maybe then consider it. In the meantime, there’s no point, especially if Mayo’s coming back soon.

The biggest things Seau brings
Are his upbeat attitude and his inspiring speeches. He’s a great mentor. I love that Mayo and Guyton got to play with him last year.
If we win a Super Bowl this year, I’d hope that Seau could be a ring, finally. But I don’t really know how much he’d help the roster.
