Brady Breaks A Heel, Tears His Skirt

Anyone who saw the embarrassment that was the roughing-the-passer call on Brady, in which he was grazed across the ankle - and didn't even go down - while pleading to the ref for a flag, witnessed a blatant case of preferential treatment.

In a league that normally gets it right - they misfired on this one. They might as well just put up a red-velvet rope around him and a couple of bouncers standing there with folded arms while little Tommy throws his football.

Somewhere along the lines, Brady has turned into a prissy schoolgirl. Even ex-teammate Rodney Harrison agrees - check out the article about it at ProFootballTalk.com. It'd be easier to root for Brady if he'd man-up and play football - if he's scared, maybe he should take up knitting. And before you say "Well! He's 3-1!" - just remember, he beat a BAD Bills team (barely and in NE), snapped a high-heel losing to the Jets, had to pull away late against Atlanta thanks to some questionable, and preferential, calls (and again in NE), and then beat Baltimore today after tearing his skirt to get his way (which he did) on some horrendous calls.

Cutler won with his ability. Manning wins with his brains. Just watch THEIR highlights. Meanwhile, poor little Tommy-Boy lacks both now, so he relies on desperate cries and whines to the refs. Sad, pathetic, and completely laughable. But hey... he's Tom Brady! He'll be great forever! .......right?

No. Because he's already far from it now. And he proved it on Sunday. Ask anyone who saw the game (except the officials)..

Oh, and for those of you who plan on commenting on this post with some sort of snide, self-promoting dig (or more likely a lame excuse for Brady's whining), save your fingers. I only created this profile to give you a one-time opinion on the fact that I - as well as the rest of the league - thinks your QB needs to change his panties. He's clearly crapped himself.

Thanks for reading... and tell your QB to grow some hair on his nuts... unless he's unable to of course. Or he's lacking in that specific anatomical category. After today - I'd guess the latter.

The views expressed in these FanPosts are not necessarily those of the writers or SBNation.

Officials

are making calls according to the rules. Don’t like it? Change the rules. Brady’s not the only beneficiary of the new-found protection-of-QB officiating – calls went agains the Pats in several games in the name of ridiculous QB-protection-related officiating. Vince Wilfork got pinged for tackling a QB and falling on top of him. Adalius Thomas got penalised for flinging one to the ground. The refs are being stringent, and they’re doing it to everybody.

As to Brady’s supposed penchant for “whines and cries to the ref…” and all QBs worth their salt will be in the referee’s ear if it can win them a game. Manning does it all the time. So does Rivers, and Brees, and Roethlisberger likes to point out any penalties as well. You know why you know those names? They’re QBs who win games. Any QB who doesn’t harangue a ref who is susceptible to persuasion is an idiot, an incompetent, or both. Quarterbacks are paid to win games, not to be silent. If the referee lets Brady dictate to him the calls, that’s the ref’s fault, and not Brady’s.

Brady’s winning. He won all those games in 2007 through style and finesse; now he’s winning through grit and guile. Having a cry about it on a Pats board isn’t going to change that.

Good point

Brady will always do whatever it takes to get a win. Why does almost every wide receiver point to his defender after dropping a ball in the end zone? Is it because he “wears a skirt” and doesn’t think he should be touched? Or is it because he knows he might draw a pass interference call that can give his team a better chance to win?

I am a Broncos fan

I just read this cause i couldn’t imagine a Pats fan writing it. What really irks me is when someone, in this case he (?) calls himself “Mrs. Brady”, signs on to just write a column to rip a great player but then offers this spineless comment:

“Oh, and for those of you who plan on commenting on this post with some sort of snide, self-promoting dig (or more likely a lame excuse for Brady’s whining), save your fingers. I only created this profile to give you a one-time opinion on the fact that I – as well as the rest of the league – thinks your QB needs to change his panties. He’s clearly crapped himself.”

So he questions Brady but then admits he doesn’t have the testicles, spine, manhood or conviction to face the very people he is trying to incite. You can bet the little coward will be hovering here wondering what you guys all said because he loves to create a firestorm but again, doesn’t have the man parts to face the music.

So “Mrs. Brady”……..when you are done changing your maxi pad……come back and face the music.

Hilarious.

sup anonymous,

I don’t usually comment on posts, but I love (i) how ridiculously stupid your comment is and (ii) how you essentially created an account to take a shot at Brady before seeking cover and accountability for your provocative comments in the anonymous crowd, which pretty much confirms (i) – your talk is bullshit.

Good to know that you completely ignore the fact that every single player on the field is trying to get the officiating to go their way. I can’t remember watching a single game where someone on the field has not attempted to induce a call one way or another. Signalling first down when it’s too close to call. Asking for pass interference, defensive or offensive. Arguing that the ball came loose and that possession was lost. Contesting catches. Calling for challenge flags. Please now confirm for me, that every player who has ever wanted a call go their way a person who relies on “desperate cries and whines”. Get a grip and stop denying you’re the one that needs a diaper.

Citing Harrison’s fucking opinion in an article about officiating on protecting the PASSER – remember, asking a DEFENSIVE player to think about what he feels about rules that go against HIS TRADE i.e to essentially KILL THE QB on every single down – is about as helpful as asking T-Rex what he thinks about a nice salad for lunch. OF COURSE he’s going to say he hates it and that every QB is a pussy, he made a name for himself through physically punishing the shit out of people. But the league wasn’t built with that singular purpose in mind, was it?

If you think QBs who ask for roughing the passer calls are pussies, watch another league or some fucking UFC. the NFL protects these guys for a reason – they are the most vulnerable players on the field because of the style of play that the league has cultivated- and they are highly valued for that kind of play – not every single god damn player is as tough as Tim Tebow, and even he has proven to be vulnerable.

Also love how one of your arguments against the validity of their 3-and-1, and how you give the Patriots no credit for any of the wins they’ve had in the last month. Same could be said to any team in the friggin league, anonymous. The Ravens had virtual bye weeks against 2 high school level teams and won against the Chargers by flukey execution on ONE PLAY – OMFG ASTERISK THEIR SEASON PLEASE (insert SPYGATE/BELICHEAT remarks for full effect). Talking about conditionals are fucking useless – so sick and tired of people thinking attributing records to the ineptitudes of others – IT’S THE RECORD – LIVE WITH IT. Your point is moot, so shut the hell up.

Personal attacks reflects how old you are, which, I’m guessing is definitely under the age of, say, 8. It also reflects that you’re too stupid to gain satisfaction from an intellectual discussion, for which reason you’ve decided to become an anonymous and raging troll. Probably most importantly, it shows that you’re crying because Brady can still get it done against whoever the hell you support, and you just couldn’t do jack about it.

Quit bitching...

the ravens could have stopped the pats any of the plays after the calls too you know and they didn’t. Plus the pats have had roughing calls on them too..two versus the bills which gave the bills 1 or 2 scores. plus the refs made the calls not brady, blame the refs for their views of the rules. And so cry somewhere else

Stupid, stupid fanpost.

First off, I’m a Colts’ fan, and I don’t like Brady or the Pats one bit.

However, all of this criticism is totally uncalled for. Regarding the RtP call. Brady has just come back from a serious knee injury. Sure, I would be a bit cautious too. Besides it was pretty obvious, so good call, and you really can’t blame Brady for that one.

And sure Brady hasn’t been up to par yet. He’s just coming back from an injury that sidelined him for a year. It also took Manning some time to knock off the rust. With that said though, Brady is running out of excuses, and he soon needs to perform like the old Brady again if he should even be considered the 2nd best QB in the NFL again.

by jocre on Oct 5, 2009 2:56 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Eh, I'm sure Pats fans will cope with him being sub-100% if he keeps churning out wins

A W is a W is a W. Whether he throws TDs. Whether he hands off. Whether he limps into the end-zone looking like a wounded dugong after a 3-month bender on paint-thinner.

Manning had until week 8; Brady gets that much lee-way. Maybe a little more if he keeps himself upright and still gets wins.

the only stat that matters is Ws

pre-2007, with its high-octane offense, Brady’s passing stats were never all that high. His typical season was 3000ish Yds & 20-something TDs. Yet he was even THEN considered one of the top 2 QBs in the NFL and arguable by many to be #1 outright.

Then 2007 showed that, given the right recieving tools, he could put up the best pure passing numbers of any QB ever. But that is not what has made Brady a certain #1 HoF QB and arguably one of the best ever. That season was more the aberation for his career.

So when you say ‘like the old Brady again’ – I hope you don’t mean he needs to put up 300 yds passing each week. That is NOT a great measure of what a good QB is.

This year, he is coming off injury and not only does he have to shake his own rust off, but he’s got a different set of toys. He may not ever throw for as many yards or TDs as 2007 again. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that he executes the offense and secures wins.

He’s already doing that and that is why he is considered by many to be THE best QB in the NFL again.

But don’t worry, your man Peyton is pretty good too. And heck, right now I’d toss my MVP vote at Peyton or Brees. But I’d still want Brady over either of them in crunch time in any game.

by mmmmm on Oct 5, 2009 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I would argue with you...

..if I thought I could convince you Manning is better, but I would be pointless, since you are a Pats’ fan :). However, I do think the whole “Brady-is-better-in-crunch” thing is way overblown. Manning performs at least as well in the crunch as Brady(personally, I think he performs way better, but objectively it have to be at least the same).

I guess the “ol’ Brady” needs a definition. He needs to make better passes, and get on the same page as his receivers. He has thrown some pretty bad passes thus far(and of course some very good, ie the TD to Moss last night), but I expect him to get into a rythm soon enough. Brady is a top-tier QB, but he has rarely ever won a game all by himself, where Manning was pure magic last season. This season he has played extremely well, but it has been against mediocre competition thus far, so I would save my MVP vote a little while longer. :)

by jocre on Oct 5, 2009 3:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not until week 9

Manning was “pure magic last season” starting in November. The first 8 games of the season, the Colts were 4-4 with Manning throwing 9 of his 12 total interceptions during that period. Once he got comfortable again, it was a different story altogether, and the MSM couldn’t eat their words fast enough.

Keep the faith!

by Marima on Oct 5, 2009 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No, he was also pure magic before that.

Truthfully, we had no business winning 4 games in the first 8 weeks. Manning willed us to pretty much each of those wins, and w/o Manning we would probably be 2-6 (at best) during that 8 game stretch. Those 8 games was indeed a huge part of his MVP campaign.

by jocre on Oct 5, 2009 5:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I really thought the MVP was Brees last year.

The guy was phenominal. If they had a defense at all, they would have dominated.

People were talking about Favre until he disintegrated (pulleze).
Manning did well, but if Brees had your defense last year, he would have been MVP and probably gotten a ring as well.

Oh, come on...

Yeah, like our defense wasTHAT awesome last year. It was pretty pedestrian. If Manning had the Saints offense for the first 8 games, we would probably have had a better record than 4-4.

Actually Manning have been in a similar situation to Brees bwtween 2002 and 2005. We still won 12 games a year during that stretch. That being said Brees is a terriffic quarterback, and I sincerely wish him a ring at some point of his career, even though rings should never be a way to measure a quarterback.

We won a game against the Browns last year

Where the defense stepped up big, and Manning and the offense didn’t do jack. I don’t know if – sans the great defensive effort – he did enough to lose the game, but he certainly didn’t do enough to win the game.

I’m well aware that it is impossible for a single player to win a game all by himself, however, what Manning did last year was incredible. He made so few mistakes, and so many out-of-this-world-throws.

by jocre on Oct 6, 2009 3:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Brady is a top-tier QB, but he has rarely ever won a game all by himself, where Manning was pure magic last season

That statement makes no sense – you can’t compare whether Brady has ever won a game by himself against Manning being pure magic for a season.

Its a silly statement anyway. Even Manning doesn’t and hasn’t won a game by himself. The game of football is practically the ultimate team sport. What makes a QB special is how well he manipulates and directs all those parts that make up one half of the team (the other half being defense). But nobody, not Manning, not Brady, not Joe Montana, wins a game all by themself.

by mmmmm on Oct 5, 2009 5:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Manning was awesome last year

…and he truly did win games by himself. He wasn’t offered much help by the defense(off the top of my head, I can only recall the defense stepped up against the Texans and the Browns) or the offense for that matter. Manning is the Colts offense, and if he went down for the season, I would be wondering if we could even win another game this year.

Brady on the other hand, was pretty much just replaced by his backup, and you guys kept on going. Of course there were some growing pains(sacks and incompletions, right?), but eventually Cassel gave you guys a pretty good chance each and every game, right? Brady have almost always had a dominant defense, he could rely on, so pretty much everytime Brady has made a comeback, it have usually been from 3-or-less-point deficit. In other words, he usually only needs a FG. Manning on the other hand, has usually been given the task to come back from a 7+ deficit, meaning, he desperately needs a TD.

I hope that clarifies things a bit.. :)

by jocre on Oct 6, 2009 4:05 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I gotta tell you...

…there was this one play last year that was pure magic. Manning snapped the ball to himself, blocked all the defensive linemen and a blitzing safety, heaved the ball 60 yards downfield on a line, caught the ball himself, threw a devastating block that took the helmet and cleats off the cornerback, and walked into the end zone while filming a Doublemint gum commercial.

It was awesome.

Harrison was just playing with Brady

He’ll be the first to say it. Anyone who knows those two, knows that they have a highly competitive relationship. Brady said that that’s what he missed most at Training Camp with Harrison gone. No one could possibly take what Rodney said as legitimate criticism to a quarterback he highly respects for his work ethic and dedication to the team. Those two drove each other. So ludicrous. Everyone is so hyper sensitive these days, no one can take a friendly rivalry between players or see one coming. Rodney just said on national television what he would have said to Brady in the locker room.

We've experienced BS ruffing the passer calls on us this year too.

I’d rather have it that way than lose Carson Palmer, Tom Brady, Joe Flacco, or even Peyton Manning (that last one made me throw up a little). The NFL is entertainment and those guys are entertaining. We’ve already lost Pennington this year; probably career ending and he was a decent guy.

Running backs (except Laurence Maroney) lead with their pads. Tacklers lead with their pads. Receivers are very protected, because they are vulnerable. QB’s are even more protected, because they are even more vulnerable.

I’ll take a defensive guy’s word on whose a wimp when he stands straight up and tries to stop a running back with his knee. Crazy? Those guys weigh a whole lot less than a defensive lineman.

I'll agree with you on this because the rule is needed.

No doubt. Just as with any rule there will be times in which the call doesn’t seem right. But it is human error. It is more important to protect the quarterback than it is to make the right call.

I absolutely love watching nail-bitters. Hopefully the game tonight is one.

That's the main point to take out of it

The minute (and I mean the very minute) that the refs don’t make a call and a QB goes down with a season-ending injury, there will be hell to pay. And it’s league-wide. Remember the whole next-season-player-league-pay-dispute-negotiation thing. Why? Imagine the leverage the players will have in the contract dispute if they can prove that the league doesn’t care about the health, safety, well-being and earning potential of the league’s most expensive commodities, franchise QBs. The league, owners, etc just cannot afford to have one of their premier players go down this season.

Oh and speaking of wimps

Ms Brady here is a classic case of a person with no guts whatsoever.

I think fans of all teams

Don’t like these lame calls, whether it’s on Suggs or Wilfork it will make you scream, but we don’t make the rules and neither do the players. But even the new sissy rules couldn’t save Pennington.

Great line.

I still say that one to myself, Humphrey Bogart accent and all.

As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about. --Shaun of the Dead

we used to have a neighbor that talked just like him growing up

and we’d all do our impersonations. Funny but i haven’t thought about that for years.

Thank You!!

Traveling in dreaded New York. No offense to the Pats faithful who live in this fine state, but they all like the Giants and Jets and Yankees. It’s almost too much for this Boston lad to take.

Bronco fan here...

My take on the situation does not have to do with Brady per se, but with the way the QBs in general misuse their protection. One of those ways is to overact and get a flag. Refs are tasked with protecting QBs and I understand that, but I hope they come up to speed regarding the acting ability of various players.

A second issue is the fact that a QB can run upfield as a ball carrier and is still protected with the slide rule. Defensive players have to pull up and they end up letting certain QBs with true running ability (think Eli, not Brady) to get a better run than they would have. That’s wrong. Once a QB crosses the line of scrimmage, they should be treated as a runner.

Another issue is the ability of some QBs to scramble. If the rushers are concerned about touching the QB, the scramblers can use that to their advantage. That’s an unfair advantage.

First and foremost, I never want to see anyone hurt. Second, I want the game to remain upright and fair. And last, I want my Broncos to win. In that order.

Wherever you go, there you are.

Brady breaks....

Cmon now green isnt your color!! Brady didnt make those calls the refs did. If you think TB isnt tough than you dont know much about him. The calls are made everywhere not just for Brady. I know he and the pats have been on top for a while and I understand your frustration with that but thats just the way it is. Anyway should be a great game Sunday in Denver GO PATS!!
