Silly untruths about the 2009 Colts at the mid-season point
False
The Colts haven't beaten anyone "good."
True
The Colts destroyed the 5-3 Arizona Cardinals in Phoenix in Week Three and are just coming off a tough, gritty win against the 5-4 Houston Texans. The only team with an above .500 record that the Patriots have beaten is the Atlanta Falcons. So, if you really feel the Colts haven't beaten anyone "good," then (by logical extension) neither have the Patriots.
False
The Colts are getting a lot of unnecessary hype.
True
The Colts are 8-0 under a rookie head coach for the first time since the merger. Yet, you see the New Orleans Saints getting high rankings everywhere while former-Patriots whiz kid Josh McDaniels is everyone's favorite rookie coach with the 6-2 Denver Broncos. So, unless you would prefer the 8-0 Colts receive ZERO press coverage, I don't know if they can be much more "under the radar" an undefeated team in Week Nine can get.
False
The Colts rookie corners are untested.
True
They've played receivers like Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson, and held both of them out of the endzone. They've gone up against QBs like Kurt Warner and Matt Schaub, containing both. The pass defense is ranked 9th in the league, allowing only 4 TDs and forcing 9 INTs. These guys aren't "rookies" anymore.
That is all. Carry on.

The Ravens
certainly qualify as a high caliber team, as do the Dolphins. The Cardinals are not exactly consistent. The Jets with Kris Jenkins and Leon Washington are good…certainly did better against the Texans. I’m not saying the Pats have any real strong wins, but neither do the Colts. Colts could easily be 5-3, Pats could easily be 8-0, or 4-4. All the talk of parity being dead is false in my opinion. The good teams do not blow out each other.
While a convincing Pat win is what I want, as I believe we can beat anybody in this league, I expect the loser will be able to point to a single play or referee call that cost them dearly.

You are wrong saying the only above 500 team NE beat was Atlanta The Ravens were undefeated when NE beat them and the Colts have had a bunch of pansy teams to beat and just barely beat some of them.
by quimby999 on Nov 13, 2009 11:56 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
the Jags were undefeated when the Colts played them, that doesn't make them good
just because a team was thought to be good when we had less information on them doesn’t mean that they are actually good when they don’t look intimidating now that we know more.

Silly untruths about this post
The Colts have had a favorable schedule. There is no denying that. Whoever argued that the Jaguars were undefeated at 0-0, should be banned from further posting. They beat the Cardinals, who we know to be a wildly inconsistent team. The only consistency so far from them is they are 1-3 at home, where the Colts beat them. Then they went on to win 3 in a row. Then lost to Carolina, then destroyed the Bears. Remember, after they came to New England last year and got absolutely destroyed, then they rode that one all the way tp the Super Bowl. Miami is just good enough to make it interesting, but loses to the good teams. They dominated Indy in that game, except for the superlative play of Manning and co., who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a couple of 2 minute drives. This will be the Colts toughest matchup so far, and their schedule gets just a little tougher in this second half. I guess when the ravens beat them next week, they might become a little better.
I haven’t heard any unnecessary hype. The c Colts are 8-0 and deserve credit, regardless of schedule.
The Colts secondary has been better than expected with their youth. It helps to have a d line that brings consistent pressure, but, kudos to them.
by furiousd on Nov 13, 2009 2:51 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Ravens?
Claiming you think the Pats will beat the Colts is at least understandable. It will be a good game, but the Ravens? That’s just crazy talk. The Ravens are the anti-Chargers. Doesn’t matter how good they are we usually crush them every time we see them. Quite frankly, this Ravens team isn’t that good. Their pass defense is well below average and Manning is going to lite them up for about 350 and 3TDs. That game won’t be close.
by invisibulman on Nov 13, 2009 4:27 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Strength of Schedule
The combined record of the Pats’ 8 opponents is 28-36. If the Pats had beaten the Jets and the Broncos and were 8-0 like the Colts, then their opponents’ combined record would be 26 – 38, which is virtually identical to the what the Colts’ opposition has done to date.
The only reason the Pats’ strength of schedule is slightly better than the Colts’ is because the Pats have lost two games, thus adding two more wins to their opposition’s total.
by ColtsSBLXIV on Nov 13, 2009 6:07 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Gotta look at FO, not just W-L
Instead of looking at W-L to determine a true strength of schedule, you should look at a site like Football Outsiders. FO has Indy’s past schedule as 9th easiest in the league, while NE’s was 16th easiest, so statistically speaking Indy’s had an easier schedule.

By the Way
The Colts got a HUGE break, when Owen Daniels went down the week before playing the Texans. This guy was really their number one receiver, with all due respect to Andre Johnson. It would be as if Dallas Clark didn’t play in this game, and Pats win. Colts fans would not be giving any credit, but only point out that clark was not in. A fair point, but one not made when the Colts talk about their quality win over Houston, without Owen Daniels on the field. If you don’t think Daniels, their leading receiver and Td grabber doesn’t make the difference in a 3 point game, you’s crazy.

ignorant pats fans
i love how pats fans try to discredit what the colts have done. pure ignorance on your part. with that said, as a die hard colts fan im exited to see tom brady back to form. the best two quarterbacks in the league facing off is a football fans dream come through. though i thouroghly hate the patriots because of obvious rivalry reasons, i love having them to around to hate. i wish for success for your team just so the rivalry stays intense. im happy for the team and the fans that tom brady is healthy and on top of his game again. this has become the greatest rivalry in professional football and i look forward to it every year. instead of being small minded ignorant haters try showing some class (hard as it may be for most of you) and give the great teams and their quarterbacks their due respect. —to the author of this article: classy and accurate well done. to bad the rest of the pats fans are not as intelligent and dignified as yourself.

eh, don't bother, just another troll
If you look at this guy’s brief history of comments, you’ll find more anti-Patriot/Massachusetts vitriol in just a few posts than most others have in hundreds or thousands. Referring to the state as a cesspool, whatever. Hardly an example of “class,” yet he still sees fit to criticize the rest of us on these blogs.
The bulk of the conversation on here has actually been dignified and intelligent from both sides, but of course a couple of trolls representing either team show up and rile things up. The majority of Patriots/Colts fans are ignoring them and continuing to have smart and fun discussion about the upcoming game.
And anyway, over at Stampede Blue, you only need to parse a few posts to find people there “not giving respect” to New England and being “small minded haters.” They aren’t exactly acquitting themselves well in terms of behavior, yet it’s not like everyone here feels that those people represent the bulk of Colts’ fans.

I knew South Africa had a seperate Legislative, Executive and Judicial capitol.
Although I agree, it isn’t covered much. We home school, and my kids know the name and capitol of all the countries in Africa, South America, Europe, and most of Asia. As we went through Africa, I was surprised how many countries changed names from when I was a kid. They’ll eventually cover them all, but you can only go into so much depth. It always floored me in Europe that people had no idea how big the United States really was. They’d tell me about all the places they wanted to see in a week. Good luck.

hey it wasnt luck
Manning was on the field for 15 minutes and won that game on talent not luck. Im my view the best team should have won that game and they did, after that everyone and the media were expecting the cardinals to win , because our D was banged up and tired and it was a short week and a trip to arizona , but we won in a big way.
For the last game we dominated the first half of that game , it ended with a close score but it felt like a blowout , a win is win even if it is by 1 point or 53, its just 1 win and we have 8 of those.
This one will be hard and a close one also. Colts by a stoveeerrr 3 :)

I have a right to hate manning just as you have right to hate Brady. If I want to go suck farts out of my own butt I would join the Stampede. I don’t really spend time arguing with people I don’t even know, but the fact you can’t stand that I hate your fag boy QB makes me just think the real winner here is no one cause I just spent 5 minutes making this thread.

Dude I love the Phins play callin and heart
They are a good team who has a young QB(U of M) who I think with the right Wideouts can deliver some great numbers in the upcoming years. They have talented O-line and secondary. Give them another year and I can see them beating on Peyton Mannings Colts, so yes that was a tough win and well respected unlike the Colts who show no class.

Thr Colts have no class?
You sir are a homer or a moron or maybe even both. But to say that the Colts have no class would probably make the list of the stupidest things ever said. The Colts are one of the classiest organizations in the league.

Not looking forward to playing you guys again, but when it happens, it happens.

Well I'm not looking forward to playing you guys but at the same time I am looking forward to it.
I’m apprehensive for the same reason you are.

Silly untruths...
The PATs may have only beaten 1 team above 500…. but they have gone to Denver and played to overtime. They went into New York without Welker and kept it close. We have not let anyone come into our house and rough us up, IE a missed field goal at end of regulation to keep it out of overtime.
Enjoy your perfect season one more day, and if you wake up on monday still perfect well then you can say you beat a good team. Do not underestimate this patchwork deffense, Indi has not seen a PATs “D” this good in 5 years!!

O romeo O romeo wherefore art thou romeo
where is he?…i wish he would come back to the promise land

Think his defenses would be the same without Willie in the lineup?
The Pats D is finally starting to make some plays this year, but it’s still nothing like it was known for when Romeo was here. Part of me is wondering if his success was due to personnel, or the schemes. McGInest, Bruschi, Vrabel and crew were outstanding in their prime.
Keep the faith!
