The Hill's Week 12 Power Rankings

Hello! Here with the latest Power Rankings.

Biggest Gain: Oakland Raiders. Their victory shot them up 4 places. (The Texans and Dolphin's 5 rank change was due to an error on my part. I accidentally used the Jaguars and Jets stats (respectively) for them last week. The Dolphins went up 2 ranks and the Texans dropped 1)

Biggest Drop: Seattle Seahawks. Their loss, plus the wins of the Chiefs, Titans and Raiders, dropped them 4 places in the rankings.

I agree with everything but I have to say that our team should be in the "contender" list

based solely on the fact that we are a better team than what our record shows. It hurts to be put in the same category as the Jets.

To be fair...

…I did ranking based on score, not what I actually thought.

If it was what I was thinking, I’d throw the Titans up a tier as well.

The Phins are one decisive win away from being in the contender tier. Contenders are teams with 75+ points (Elite are 100+). Contenders usually are over .500, have generally outscored their opponents and have a good win against a top team or two. Dolphins have 2 quality wins, but their letting their opponents outscore them on average (by .2, which is why the Dolphins aren’t an even 70 points). Dolphins need to win their next game to be pushed into the Contender tier, which should happen.

You guys have a tough road.

You need to win out (which I hope doesn’t happen…sorry! We need that win!)
Have a lot of help from the Ravens (if they beat the Steelers twice and the Pats beat you, it’ll come down to your season finale)

OR, which is most likely,

Watch the Broncos lose against the Giants, Colts and Eagles (and maybe one or two to the Chiefs and Raiders). They have the other WC spot which can and most possibly will be yours.

how the favre are we behind the Chargers and the Bungles i mean Bengals?

by NinjaZX6R on Nov 24, 2009 11:53 PM EST reply actions

Well...

…while the Bengals did just get upset, they’ve had massive wins over Pit (x2), Baltimore (x2) and Chicago (when they were semi-respectable) so their “Quality Win” total is much higher than ours.

The Chargers have one more quality win than us, which is why they’re a liiittle above us.

I like it

But i personally would have 2 changes.I would move the Cowboys to the average tier,And even though you probably dont like this I would move the dolphins up to contender tier

I would agree with those, mostly...

…I just use points for tiers though.
100+ Elite
75+ Contender
50+ Average
25+ Bad
0+ Horrible

by Richard Hill on Nov 25, 2009 12:15 PM EST up reply actions

I don't know what criteria you use, but....

Ranking the Pats behind the Chargers or Bengals seems off the mark. They have the same number of wins yet the Pats have scored more and allowed less points.

My rankings would be Colts, Vikes, Saints and Pats……

Losing to your #2 team by a point on the road including a bogus call at the endgame should garner better than the #6 slot.

Warm up the Duck Boats!!!

by BabeParilli on Nov 25, 2009 2:39 PM EST reply actions

Yeah, but who have we beaten?

We’ve beaten some okay teams at the beginning of the year (Ravens, Falcons) but the Bengals have beaten teams week in and out (Steelers x2 and more). They just have more quality wins than us.

The Chargers have slaughtered the Broncos that did beat us, regardless of week of season. They deserve a top spot as well.

by Richard Hill on Nov 25, 2009 3:39 PM EST up reply actions

Teams go in spurts of quality play.

Just ask the 07 Giants.

The Bengals lost to the Raiders. Nobody that bad has beaten the Pats.

The Chargers lost to the Ravens which the Pats and Bengals beat.

The Bengals, Pats and Chargers all lost to Denver, so that’s a wash.

So, I’ll stick with my previous points.

With the way they are falling apart, I'm just having trouble imagining

either Pitt or Denver in the Wildcard. I know I’m getting all homer and all, but Phins and well, I guess it would have to be one of them. Who knows, maybe Baltimore sneaks the other spot? Jags are good, but their schedule is too tough, same for texans, and pretty much everyone else.

Steelers go against the Ravens for the first of two this weekend.

After that meeting, the picture may clear up a bit. Also Denver is in free fall, so I don’t see them getting the W over the G-men.

I'm pulling for:

1. Colts
2. Pats
3. Bengals
4. Chargers
5. Phins
6. Texans

Bengals over Texans
Chargers over Fins
Chargers over Colts (hah)
Pats over Bengals

Pats over Chargers in snowy Gillette.

I'd love to be in the Div-spot, but what's the real difference tween a 3rd and a 6th.

And that’s how I project the playoffs to look. But the Bengals are gonna take the second seed.

Much like we got the monkey known as the Pats off our back the 06 AFCCG, I foresee the same with the Dolts this year. If they make it far enough to meet us that is. =-)

Me too...

…I’m not seeing those teams holding onto their WC spot. One more loss by each of those teams, combined with wins by the teams just behind them in the rankings will supplant them.

It’s just that the Dolphins vs Patriots can be compared to Red Sox vs LA Angels.

Always a good fight, even though most of the talk occurs between Pats/Jets and Sox/Yanks. Just a good game between two teams that bring the best out of each other.
