Wow! This is going to be a classical ground game, pound the rock, get a FG, and let the defense hold the lead!

Oh, sorry, I was channeling Ravens vs Steelers for a minute there.

Pats vs Colts? Air Superiority, Baby! As an Air Force veteran, I fully approve this message!

Our Colts loss hurt more than the loss yesterday.

So because of that I’d like you guys to embarrass them that way there is no way they go undefeated. Thanks.

Bill hasn't called lately.

He’s got Seau, he doesn’t need another old guy.

Might go to the 'Phins

and beg for Pennington.

And Favre was retired

Until the coach begged. Haha.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Pennington calls it quits, which would be a shame, but not unlikely.

That's something I'd love to hear...

“Running up the score!” against the undefeated Colts. How awful that would be…

If they do (heaven forbid)

the Patriots will have no one to blame but themselves. Weird how the Patriots will have the chance to stop the Saints, if the Saints are still undefeated then too. Although the thought of the Saints going undefeated doesn’t bother me a fraction as much as that happening to the Colts.

Keep the faith!

by Marima on Nov 9, 2009 7:25 PM EST up reply actions

yeah, me too. But because I want my team to remain the only undefeated team to win the Super Bowl

I want these teams to be stopped during the season that way I don’t have to worry in playoffs. Like with you guys in ’07, I almost had a heart attack.

Well, for you, sure

But I’d really like to see Mercury Morris shut up. I respect what he and the others did, but give some respect to others that try.

lol yeah well Mercury did some weird crap (for a lack of a better word) during that '07 season

leading up to the Pats playoff run but I guess he was just being emotional. The ‘72 season is one of the few great things I can hold on to as a Dolphins fan, although I wasn’t alive to see it.

I was, they did well

Though the Pats won more consecutive games in 2007. 16 regular season 2 post season (minus the big one) They won 14 regular season, 3 post season.

Nope, the game changes: Number of teams, free agency, move to the passing game

Making alot of the stats meaningless. But we talk about them anyway.

It’s kind of like talking about car prices in 1965. Doesn’t make sense unless you can put it in 2009 dollars. Yet we talk about 1965 stats like they make any sense in the modern game.

You mean...

that I can’t buy a brand new Oldsmobile for $1200 and fill it for $1.60?

That’s the sound of my shattering dreams.

I can’t say I’ve seen a lot of that era – very little, in fact – but even this untrained eye could see massive differences in rules. Cornerbacks looked slow, but were allowed to commit grevious bodily harm on WRs from what looked like any point on the field at any given time. It wasn’t even bumping at the line – it was assault. I wouldn’t imagine the passing game was all that popular, given the circumstances.

Oh, and it was the end of the finned car era.

Just like inflation, the guys are bigger too. Here’s Chicago’s 1965 Offense:

RT Stephen Wetoska -——— 240 lbs.
RG Jim Cadile -———————- 240 lbs.
C Mike Pyle -—————————- 250 lbs.
LG Mike Rabold -——————- 239 lbs.
LT Herman Lee -——————- 244 lbs.
TE Mike Ditka -———————— 228 lbs.
RB Gale Sayers -——————- 198 lbs.
FB Ronnie Bull -——————— 200 lbs.

250 is around FB/LB/TE weight (or Roethlisberger)
These guys wouldn’t stand a chance today, but then they were 9-5. Two of them are Hall of Famers.

How many could Vince eat at once?

One, one offensive lineman, ah ah ahhh. Two, two offensive linemen, ah ah ahhh.

i couldn't watch the video

After about a minute. Too many bad feelings from the 2006 season! But also, it almost felt like a career retrospective for Tom and Peyton — two guys that have a lot of stories left to write. I’ll watch it when they’ve retired :)
