Around SBN: New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI Ring Unveiled

Patriots in the RedZone, sponsored by Comcast

Photo

With our 20-10 win against the Carolina Panthers, the Patriots improve to 48.15% in the RedZone.  One TD was a 3 yarder to Kevin Faulk in the 2nd quarter and the other a fiver to Benjamin Watson.  Does anything strike you as odd with those 2 scores?  I'll wait...  DING DING!!  Neither of them were to wide receivers.  2 Stephen Gostkowski field goals sealed the deal.

I distinctly remember some sage saying before last week's game that he hadn't seen a TE fade in the end zone in a while

Oh. Wait. That was me.

Ding ding!

Speaking of TE's, has Chris Baker been AWOL or something?

I thought he was doing pretty well as a threat for the Pats.

Pretty sure he got injured...

…just like everyone else.

He's been hurt, as has Watson

And I also suspect that the number of TE catching plays drops proportionate to the number of O-linemen on the injury list – when tackles and guards are slower because they’re nicked up, the Pats keep TEs in to block. That means less catches from Watson and Baker, although their snap count might stay high.

You still haven't seen a TE fade.

But I’ll take a crossing route as a poor-man’s substitute.

The TE fade off of play-action power to the TE’s side is the best goal-to-go play at any level if you have an even semi-credible run game. I wish I saw more of it on Sundays.

As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about. --Shaun of the Dead

True, wasn't a fade

But a Red Zone TD pass to a TE is enough to make me happy. Now Brady’s remember that he’s actually allowed to pass to those big receiver looking guys, hopefully he’ll start picking them out more often.

The guys at Buffalo Rumblings are calling this their Super Bowl for the season...

…this is our 4th Super Bowl of the season! Jets (week 2), Colts, Saints and now the Bills! Hopefully we can emerge 2-2 for the regular season and finish 3-2 in Super Bowl games this season.
