And

the Jets lost. We’re two games up. I just wish our last two games looked a little less daunting.

by Kiribub on Dec 20, 2009 5:28 PM EST reply actions

Jets have no chance of winning out.

Phins have the same shot as of as winning out. Which means if they do, we should be able to win at least ONE game.

everyone seems to be running out of steam… i think pats beat all of the WC teams right now

my afc summary, if the season ended today

Colts: inches from beating them, shootout each time
Chargers: scary, can they get over the Patriot hump?
Bengals: Defensive team this year, good weapons can beat them.
Ravens: Close game before, if we contain Rice we have a good shot
Broncos: Lost by a missed field goal, they dont’ look scary lately.

They're the Anti-Redskins.

Redskins lose to terrible teams (Lions, Panthers, Chiefs)
Oakland beats good ones (Eagles, Steelers, Bengals, Broncos)

No, Green Bay better fire their D Co-ordinator or DB coach

Single coverage of a wide receiver in the corner of the end zone on a Hail Mary pass play? You could take every guy off the D-line and stack them all in a line across the end zone and get better defensive coverage than that. Stupid.

Hah, that's even more amusing

since that’s the kind of play where every DB the Pats have would be on the field, and Randy Moss would probably be sitting on the goal-line, too. Yet Green Bay was in single coverage. Dumb.

And 383 yards to Rodgers, who also got 22 and a TD on the ground

Man, what a game. Six TDs through the air – three by each side – no picks, and a QB rushing for a 14 yard TD on the ground. Total of 886 yards of passing? That’s ridiculous.

so far this year, all snf games have been good games….the only reason they didn’t flex schedule this game is b/c of the nfl love for favring favre

Chargers/ Bengals would probably get more ratings that this game tonight

A team that boos their own rookies and cheers opposition injuries would do that.

I forgot about that

I liked Pennington more than his own fans did, that’s ridiculous.

I was glad he got an opportunity at the ‘Phins, it was sad to see him go down again, although Henne’s a fine QB. I hope Pennington winds up somewhere else and doesn’t pack it in.

then Mr. Moore kills the Vikes on SNF and all bets are off.

I'm watching a replay of it right now

First half just finished (I know the result, of course). Can’t say I’m impressed with Moore thus far – he’s missed an open Steve Smith a few times and almost found Antoine Winfield another couple. It’s just that Favre was even less impressive than Moore. I do like Moore’s pocket presence, though – keeping away from Jared Allen shows more smarts than many rookies possess (that’s you, Sanchez).

I’m struggling to believe the playcalling of the Vikes at the moment – throw two incompletions and then tell Adrian Peterson to convert a 3rd and 10 run? It’s… ye gods, it’s like the second half of any 2009 Patriots game.

It's really like the Vikings thought the game was a gimme.

Moore hangs out in the pocket (out of Allen’s way and hits targets of opportunity). No home runs or highlight plays, but he kept moving the chains especially in the 4th.

by SlotMachinePlayer on Dec 21, 2009 3:22 PM EST up reply actions

Wow, I never appreciated Steve Smith as much as now

Moore was spraying it, and Smith adjusts like a demon. I don’t think he had a long completion that actually went to him – he had to adjust on every single one, regularly beating Winfield to do it, too. That’s phenomenal – Winfield’s a great corner. Smith made him look like Wilhite on some of those adjustments. If anything, Winfield was covering where the ball should go and Steve Smith went where it was actually going.

Woah woah...

…Wilhite played decently this past week! He’s a good 4th corner (Behind Bodden, Butler and Springs). But yeah, I see your point.

by Richard Hill on Dec 21, 2009 4:05 PM EST up reply actions

Good fourth corner

that’s like saying he’s an excellent 5th running back, or a decent 8th offensive lineman.

Or maybe that’s what you intended.

As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about. --Shaun of the Dead

by JohnHannahRules on Dec 21, 2009 4:09 PM EST up reply actions

Oh, I know

I just remember several games when Wilhite was in a decent position, but couldn’t stop the play. He was there, he was in a position, he tried to do his job, and the receiver just flat out completed it. Not really Wilhite’s fault, but something you’d hope a cornerback would stop.

I didn’t mean it in a “Wilhite = insult” way – I literally meant it like Wilhite. In the frame, arms around the WR, but completion + touchdown kind of way.

I give Jeff Fisher and the Titans mad, mad props.

MAD props.

There aren’t many teams that could pull out of an 0-6 death-spin like that. And it looks like the resurrection of Vince Young is part of the package. Nice little story going on down in Tennessee.

Fun Fact:

There are 12 teams within a game of .500 (ie: 6-8, 7-7 or 8-6) as of now. 18 teams have an average of less than a TD difference in their Points For/game vs their Points Against/game. 10 teams average less than a FG. That’s parity.

5 teams have a Winning Percentage of .300 or lower
5 teams have a Winning Percentage of .700 or higher

However…
AFC South has no one under .500

That’s crazy.
