Circle Time! Questions about the Houston Texans?
Hey, Pulpiteers! I'm bigfatdrunk (bfd) from Battle Red Blog kicking off the official Texans/Patriots Q&A thread. Or something official sounding like that.
Obviously, this is a huge game for us with the playoffs on the line. We need a win to get us into the dance, but we need at least two of Denver, Baltimore, or the NY Jets to lose so we have a partner. We're now all huge fans of the Chiefs, Raiders, and Bengals, respectively.
Anything you'd like to know about the team? Want a signed 8x10 glossy of yours truly? Ask away below!

PS: I promise not to bring up Bernard Pollard.

Your playoff chances?
What you guys need:
Texans win AND Jets loss AND Ravens loss
Texans win AND Ravens loss AND Broncos loss
Texans win AND Jets loss AND Broncos loss
Pats and Bengals may rest starters, so that could possibly likely lead to the Texans and Jets winning. In that case, you need the Ravens and Broncos to lose.
Ravens @ Raiders – I like the Ravens chances (Raiders got nothing to play for).
Chiefs @ Broncos – I like the Broncos chances (Chiefs got nothing to play for).
So you’re pretty much hoping the stars are aligned and fate smiles sweetly upon your Texans. In other words, you’re a fan. Welcome!

the raiders actually do
cable is still fighting to keep his job, and either charley frye or j.p losman will be starting, and they want to prove themselves as well. not to mention they’re facing baltimore, and would love to have a chance to knock the out of the playoffs(since it’s baltimore). remember last year facing the 49ers.
The Raiders also have a resume this year for beating playoff calibur teams(eagles, bengals, steelers, denver(maybe)).

Thanks!
Yes, I sometimes like to live in a dream world where unicorns poop rainbows, and this is one of those times. The Raiders and Chiefs will bring it, I’m sure, but I think you’re right about the Bungles.

Even if the Bengals don't show up, you still have a shot
Remember, the Jets’ QB is very inconsistent, and he’s been horrible in a lot of games. If he collapses under the pressure of trying to get his team to the playoffs, he could gift wrap the game for Cincinnati.
Heretic!
Not Mark “Full of Crunchy Poisy Poise” Sanchez!
I hope you’re right, but as we see in the pre-season every year, the drop-off between the first and second stringers is a little steep. If the Bengals sit starters, we could be in a lot of trouble.
Then, of course, the Texans laying a big egg with the playoffs on the line would be a perfectly Texans thing to do.

If you lose should Kubiak go?
"These players, a lot of other people didn't believe in them, but they believe in themselves. And that is all that matters."- Bill Belichick
Whether or not he should
He won’t, either way. Whether or not Kubes should stick around is a topic of some debate, but even his biggest detractors would probably agree that he’s done enough to keep his job.

What tGC said
As he mentioned, it’s been a long debate this year, exacerbated by the four-game losing streak. I’ve long argued that onus is on building a base of talent, not the coaching. For example, we run out quite possibly the worst CB1, LG, RG, C, and NTs in the league with WLB close behind. That’s six positions of total and complete suck including three on the o-line alone.
Also, there are some of us who despise Frank Bush, our DC. Me included.

They were all scouted heavily by Hoodie, too
He namedropped the USC guys pre-draft as people to look out for. So he must not have thought the value was quite there, for whatever reason – they were definitely on his radar.

Oh come let's sing Ohio's praise,
And songs to Alma Mater raise,
While our hearts rebounding thrill,
With joy which death alone can still,
Summer's heat or winter's cold,
The seasons pass the years will roll,
Time and change will surely (truly) show,
How firm thy friendship... OHIO!!!

Bad news for the Texans, our starters are playing.

They're still professional football players
If they can’t beat the starters in an elimination game, they don’t deserve to go to the playoffs anyway.
I feel this way too
I also think that I would be 100% ok with you guys resting your starters.

No
Mine all mine!
My paternal side of the family comes from the Shiner/Victoria/Gonzalez part of the state. Several of my relatives worked at the brewery through the years, and they’d bring home free Shiner all the time. Even as late as the late 90s, I’d be able to pick up cases for $2.49.

Good luck, y'all!
And by “luck,” I mean I hope you come out of the game healthy and on a one-game losing streak.

I'm with ya, as far as health goes
and I’m hoping for a good game from both sides. It makes the win sweeter.
Keep the faith!
