Report: Galloway to Pats
From ProFootballTalk via Christopher L. Gasper:
The website Pro Football Talk is reporting that a Tampa TV station has reported that former Buccaneers wide receiver Joey Galloway has reached a one-year deal with the Patriots.
It remains to be seen whether he is injury-free and can survive TC. But if he can work his magic from the last couple of years we will have a nice passing attack again.
Also, it is a good question whether this affects our draft strategy

I think he wants more than the Pats can offer
Both playing time and money

Could be good
The Patriots obviously feel he’s worth taking a flier on, and he’s probably just a short-term fill in for the spot opposite of Randy Moss (at least, I would imagine at 37 years old), so why not? Let’s see what he can do.

Looks like it's true
Here is the confirmation from Chris Gasper:
The agent for wide receiver Joey Galloway has confirmed that the Patriots have reached a one-year deal with Galloway.
Galloway’s agent, Shawn Trell, confirmed the news, which was first reported by Tampa radio station WDAE.
Via email, Trell said that Galloway’s decision to join the Patriots was “simple” because it was a “compelling opportunity to play for a premier owner, organization, team and coach.”
“The ankle injury suffered last year is behind him,” Trell said in an email. “The Patriots would not have made this move if they didn’t believe the same. The fact is that at the end of last season Joey remained the faster player on the Buccaneers. While the ankle injury was a set back last season, the fact remains that Joey had three consecutive 1,000 yard seasons. He’s excited about the many different opportunities afforded him by playing for this franchise and coach, as well as with Tom Brady and the wide receivers already on their roster.”

I like this
As I’ve mentioned before, Galloway has made many poor QBs look good, and I can’t wait to see what he does with Brady.

Good move
Galloway’s numbers were down because he was hurt last year, but he’s still a decent #2 receiver, and he’ll be the #3 guy here.
As for how this affects draft strategy, I see three options:
1) The Pats use one of the second rounders to pick the best receiver left on the board. Whoever that turns out to be, he’ll mostly sit this year so he can learn and he’ll step into Galloway’s spot in the lineup in 2010.
2) The Pats focus on defense, O-line, and TE in the draft. They’ll wait until next year to add WR depth/replacement for the Galloway/Gaffney/Stallworth spot in the draft.
3) The Pats focus on defense, O-line, and TE in the draft, but trade one or more of the second rounders for additional picks next year. If this is the route they take, look for the #34 pick to be traded for a first rounder in the 2010 draft.
Of these, I think #2 is most likely.

Belichick will probably get good production out of him.
I’m VERY curious to see what he does with Greg Lewis.

I'd love to see some 4 WR sets
once in a while it’d be great to get those 4 (Moss / Welker / Lewis / Galloway) out there to play pitch and catch for a series or two. But then again, after the Pollard hit last year, I’m not sure I’d want to give up that much protection on blitz pickups…

I am so glad you guys signed "old as balls galloway"!
Pittsburgh was looking at this geriatric as well for some reason. If I was a betting man, id say this guy isn’t going to do much! I mean how many 37 year old receivers are any good?
