The Denver Broncos might have wanted Matt Cassel to replace Jay Cutler, but they weren't nearly as aggressive in pursuing the quarterback as some reports have suggested, according to Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
"They never made that offer to me," Belichick said when asked on sports radio WEEI's "The Big Show" this afternoon whether the Broncos had offered first- and third-round picks for Cassel.

What is so ludicrous
is that over at Mile High Report ther is even a debate on what BB meant by the word “that” as in “They never made that offer to me.” Silly. And of course this doesn’t exonerate McDaniels because Belichick is a liar and is just trying to protect McDaniels (to make himself look good of course, because McDaniels performance reflects on him.) And we all know around here how much value BB puts on what other people think of him, and looking good at all costs. Aaaarrrggghhh!

people see what they want to see...
…and those so convinced of BB’s evil ways will probably never get converted unless they somehow wind up in purgatory and Bill is the person who leads them out and up into the heavens. And maybe not even then :)
Of course we’re homers, and people could just as easily (and often do) accuse us of being so biased towards Bill that we will never be convinced that he doesn’t do things on the level, even when presented with cold hard evidence, but I really think that this situation is pretty much what it looks like on the surface to the bulk of football fans in most non-Denver and non-New England markets:
McDaniels wasn’t super tactful or diplomatic in one of his first key personnel moves with his new team, and Cutler has a fragile ego that has led him to believe he is entitled to a starting job in the NFL. And Bus Cook is a turd.

you're right, you're right, I know
and I shouldn’t let it bug me so much, but I was reading the thread and there it was, “Belichik is a liar – it is what he does.”
Of course the only “evidence” of that was a shot at his ‘weak argument’ about misinterpreting the videotaping rules and the dubious injury report. Yeah, real hard “facts.”
And BB doesn’t need any defense but it was a hectic day and the whole thing just bugged me. Good thing it’s the weekend!
