The Patriots’ logjam at cornerback has been broken with today’s trade of Ellis Hobbs to the Philadelphia Eagles for two 2009 fifth-round draft choices (which were later traded).

A starter in 2008, Hobbs was set to return to a crowded situation this season. Competition figured to be fierce at the position.

what, the Boston Globe on-line sports section?

well, duh… that’s why Mike Reiss, Chris Gasper and crew get paid the big bucks.

Keep the faith!

Unfortunately...

Their comments section leaves a bit to be desired (namely: intelligent responses).

They are passionate, indeed.

They also have a ton of members so you’ve got a bigger sample size to gauge what the reaction is like to certain players, trades, etc. At Pats Pulpit, we seem to have our usual gang of members with the occasional new face chiming in, and most of us don’t seem to respond with “knee-jerk” reactions much (which as I alluded to earlier, you’ll find plenty of that in the Boston Globe’s comment sections).

We’re passionate, but level-headed. I like that about Pats Pulpit.

I am glad this over rated player is gone

Hobbs was begging to be traded with his stupid decisions on kick offs and his lack luster efforts on defense.

Doubtful.

I think his $2.25 million occupying the cap had more to do with it.

Stilts

Bye bye Ellis. I’ll miss your kickoff returns but not watching you get out jumped for passes. If only you were 3 inches taller.

Same guy, new name.
