Around SBN: Has Kentucky Improved Since the Non-Conference Season?

"Paris is excited to finally be a part of a winning organization and eager to contribute in whatever way Coach Belichick and his staff see fit. Now, quite simply, he's eager to go to work," Jon Persch of Allegiant Management told the Globe this morning.

Lenon enters his eighth NFL season and leaves the NFC North for the first time, as he's played for the Packers (2002-2005) and Lions (2006-2008). He was the leading tackler on last year's winless Lions squad, playing middle linebacker in a 4-3 alignment.

Hmmm

That’s two starters picked up from what Football Outsiders considers the worst defense ever – BB better work som magic here!

True, but....

The situation here in Detroit the last several years has been so bad and the coaching and leadership so poor, that I wonder how well Brady/Moss/Wilfork/Mankins/Mayo or any Patriot players would have fared if they had been wearing a Lions uniform. My one memory of Lenon was from 2007 when Detroit was about to upset Dallas late in the game and Lenon, instead of falling on a fumble, tried to scoop it up and run with it. He lost possession, of course, and the Cowboys recovered and went on to win. But I bet that the Patriots coaches will emphasize what to do and not to do—-oh, 650 or so times so that when Lenon is in a similar situation next fall he’ll be coached exactly how to do it.

I’m prepared to give both Lenon and Leigh Bodden a break and not hold being Lions against them. I’m also inclined to think that once they get out of Detroit and into New England, they’ll be the good football players they can be—kind of like when Wes Welker and Sammy Morris got out of Miami.

Just kidding :-)

I like Bodden and will of course give Lenon a chance as well. If he can provide depth, that’s fine.

Reiss

said he also is great on special teams

"These players, a lot of other people didn't believe in them, but they believe in themselves. And that is all that matters."- Bill Belichick
