A source close to Cassel has confirmed that Cassel has agreed to a six-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, who are now run by former Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli. The source said that the deal pays Cassel top five quarterback money.
Update (2:50 p.m.): The source has confirmed, as first reported by ESPN, that Cassel's deal is for $63 million over the six years, $28 million guaranteed.

He did well for us last year
Good for him, and good luck with his career. Unless of course he plays the Pats, then he can just crash and burn.
The more you know, the more you know that you don't know.

oh yeah
Definitely didn’t want to sound like I wasn’t rooting for him, I hope that he vindicates himself from any doubters who felt that he just benefited from Randy and Wes and didn’t actually have the goods to play the game.
I think I also fixated more on the $63 million total, rather than the smaller guaranteed $28 million over 6 years, which makes more sense to me even though I still think it’s generous. Incentive laden contracts are nice in terms of dollar risk committed to that one player, but I’d hate to be the GM having to account for those possible fluctuations against the cap for the entire team!

6 years?
i knew he was going to be their starter, but i would’ve gave him around a 3- year deal, just in case he doesn’t do well with kc’s system or lack of strong talent.
