something to talk about

We have talked about so many things during the offseason. We talked about the return of brady, how the pats can compare to the 07 season, rookies, free agents, trades, and statistics. Just being here for about 5 months or so, i'm proud i joined The Pulpit.

Now in the slump of making new topics, i'd like to discuss something that I hope can be worthy to discuss.

There is always a hidden talent amongst many rookies who get drafted or any other average player, but finding that talent is very challenging.

Ex. I found Law-Firm become a solid RB in just a couple games , and picked up his first 100-yard game against the bills last year which, I believe, was his 4th game. To me, I think he has plenty of hidden potential, and can't wait to see what he could do in a full season. He also had back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons in college, and went undrafted.

I see talent in pierre woods. People say he's only good against the run, but i remember last year when he filled in at LB, he was doing a good-great job(how can we forget the jets game, i remember a pass rush when he was in that game). I also remember that he did a good job against the giants in SB42, and when he had the fumble. He has been a solid LB for us.

We all know about maroney.

i see talent in butler, chung, brace, and tate; and jerod mayo will get a few sacks this time this year.

Without explaining about the rookies, unless you want me too, i'd like to have a discussion about the possible talent in any player on our roster you choose, and if you want, discuss his future on our team.

Good topic

Personally, I am big on Fred Taylor and have gotten knocked around a bit for it, specifically by rivals. They look only at the on-field numbers and contributions without spending a moment to truly understand WHY a guy like Taylor is on the team. He’s dealt with some of the same stuff Maroney is going through right now and I believe is here to give Laurence a support system to do what we know he’s capable of. His value is less about cold, hard numbers and more about a veteran presence.

thanks for the compliment

and i couldn’t agree with you more on fred taylor. even though he is a talented RB, he is the perfect veteran presence for our backfield, especially for maroney. could also provide some good blocking skills, and if he is great at blocking, i wouldn’t be surprised to see him play some full back or TE.

He’ll never play FB or TE. That’s……..no. However, he can keep LB’s off of Tom Brady from the RB position and that’s good.

It's just a game.

Butler

I believe this kid could well be an all-pro in short order. Some feel he was the best DB in the entire draft. It is also said that at UCONN opponents just didn’t even throw to his side of the field. He can play man, zone, the run, is physical with decent size and his vertical was second best of all DBs and WRs at the combine. He also had the fastest 40 time of all DBs at the combine.

I will be surprised if is not a capable starter by midseason.

I'm with ya, Babe

The kid has all the tools and the work ethic to boot. I’m looking for big things from this young man.

Deep Threat

Randy Moss and Joey Galloway aren’t getting any younger. I think they’ll both do well this year, but how much longer. I don’t see Brandon hitting the field this year, he’ll probably be IR’d, but next year and beyond…. He can pick up instruction from Moss and Galloway, two of the best deep threats. If he’ll learn, I think he’ll be huge, probably take Galloway’s spot next year and be #1 WR in 2011.

tell me if im wrong but....

could this guy have the POTENTIAL to be the next marvin harrison? i look at his video on youtube and he seems to be a remarkable rout runner with some amazing hands

If I remember hearing correctly...

The guy was supposed to be well on his way to becoming a possible first round draft pick before his injury and the testing positive for dope thing.

i know

but when he is healthy, who could you compare him as? like i said, i think he’s the next marvin harrison.

I see potential

I see great tutelage. I also see a guy that smoked a joint before the combine. So decision making may be an issue. If he buckles down, HUGE potential.

Kevin

Rocket arm, best scrambler I’ve seen on the Patriots (always a running threat), needs NFL reps.

His college O-Line sucked

He had to scramble to survive. His biggest thing that I’ve heard is getting his accuracy down while in the pocket. That takes some reps.

O-Line

I remember reading that, too. He had more rushing yards than anyone on his college team – including the running backs.

his accuracy is the only thing i think he needs to work on.

i think he’s also the best pocket presence qb next to tom b. even better than cassel and maybe slightly better than gutierrez.
