Hello from a KC Chiefs fan!!
Every once in awhile a Pat's fan will drop by the Arrowhead Pride SB Nation site to say hello and wish us well. I mean why not? We were 2-14 last year...you don't have much to worry about for sure. Especially since the Patriots are going to win the Superbowl this year.
The Pats are pretty much my second favorite team. Hell half our organization is made up x-Patriots. Anyway, I love the Patriot organization, the team, and the fans.
Even the fans have class. Your not Raiders fans. You eat with silverware and use a toilet.
I just wanted to send some love over from the KC Nation. I think most KC fans in general respect, if not really really like, the Patriots. You guys deserve a great year. And you will get it. You guys are going to the bowl this year, mark my words on that one.
Anyway, if ya'll ever get the urge to stop over and say hi, we'll welcome you. Good luck and GO Patriots!!!

Welcome krayfish
It’s been a while since I dropped by and talked to the folks over at AP. As I’ve mentioned before over there, I’ll be rooting for the Chiefs to do well this year, especially with the number of ex-Patriots you’ve acquired. Hiring Scott Pioli was a great first step towards improving your team, and I think you guys have plenty to be excited about.
Go Pats and go Chiefs =)

wow that would post without me finishing what I was saying.
Didn’t your team’s crappy defensive line break through New England’s O-line and do Tommy in for the season last year? And the Pats are you second favorite team? I wonder how you felt about that? Awkward.
Other than that, that is where the quote of yours I posted comes in….are you a fortune teller? Because if not I’d have to say that holds no water.

Okay then.... got it!
anyway I doubt your a pats fan…and yes I am a fortune teller….how’de you know are you psychic? Anyway, there’s always one of you in every bunch, so your the one on this site huh? We put up with your twin over at AP also…it’s probably you!!
Your negative comments don’t phase me….GO PATRIOTS!! And yes I do love the Pats…..they rock!!
well your fortune telling abilites must surpass your ability to identify the obvious
hence the name dolphinsinbuffalo…which might just imply that I’m a dolphins fan. Only half of what I said was negative and all of what you said was ignorant. It is very stupid to just claim that the Pats are going to win the Super Bowl, or any team for that matter. As a Cheifs fan you should stick to supporting your team and not trying to predict what a team will do or a team that you like probably just as a bandwagon type of thing anyway.

analysts do the exact same thing.
so are you angry because he said the patriots were going to the superbowl? would you be mad at your fellow dolphin’s fans if they predicted that the dolphins would win the superbowl? when i predicted the phins go 9-7 or 10-6, you didn’t object to that. i’m pretty sure many fans make predictions all the time for their team, and other teams. it doesn’t show that you are ignorant, and predicting who would win the superbowl is just as fun as predicting who would get drafted. it seems that when someone predicts a rival team will do better than your own team strikes a nerve.
I make predictions, and I KNOW i’m not ignorant. it’s just fun.
I would be angry if Dolphins fans were saying that the Dolphins were going to win the Super Bowl
because I don’t want our fans looking stupid. And I will object to your prediction of the Dolphins going 9-7 or 10-6, you don’t know. I don’t know. The analysts don’t know. No one knows. It isn’t even fun to predict because I don’t like being wrong, and I know if I predict, I’ll be wrong.

i predicted the pats will go 11-5 last year when all the analysts were saying 8-8 or 10-6
there’s nothing wrong with predicting. you’re never wrong when your predicting because a prediction is just like a theory, or hypothesis. when a scientist makes a hypothesis, it’s just a prediction of what will happen if they do this or that. sometimes they are wrong, sometimes they aren’t. but they use that knowledge for future hypothesis’s, just like how the pats were 11-5 last year without brady and a lot of injuries, fans and analysts will make hypothesis’s(or predictions) will use that knowledge to make a prediction of what might happen with brady back and others coming back from IR will do in the next season.
that’s the whole beauty of a prediction, no one actually knows until we see it being performed and produced. And when you’re wrong about a prediction, probably other people were wrong as well. i predicted that the vikings and dolphins or miami will somehow make it to the superbowl. i was dead wrong and dissapointed, but i’ll use that knowledge of the fact that the dolphins went 11-5 last year after a 1-15 season, matt ryan being rookie of the year and taking the playoff ridden falcons to the playoffs, and brett favre signing with the viking, and make another prediction in the future. predictions don’t have to just mean records, but player performances as well.
that’s fine if you don’t like predicting and all, but don’t call anyone “stupid,” or “ignorant,” or whatever you were saying because in a way, what you think about people making predictions is wrong in itself.
you have no right.

it is completly ignorant to predict...and I'll prove it.
The Dolphins are going to go 16-0 in the regular season then go on to win the Super Bowl and be 19-0. Enough said.

NE silver did you hear what almost happened to Cassel..?
POLLARD broke through in practice and hit him in the leg .. almost identical to what happened to Brady….I think we would have stuffed him in a punching bag and let the team take turns if that would have happened…but atleast Brady is back and healthy.
You can tell he didn’t miss a beat either…he looks good!!
Yeah, I read about it not too long ago.
I just shook my head. The first offense is forgivable, because he was just trying to finish the play. But after you’ve seen what kind of harm something like that can do… and then to do just that on your very own QB?? What an idiot. At least nothing happened to Cassel, though.
Maybe the commissioner should sent out a memo to the entire league right before the season starts, “Offensive linemen and QBs: Beware Bernard Pollard.”
I only got to watch a little bit of the Chiefs vs. Vikings game. How have the Chiefs looked so far in preseason?
It was a legal hit
Now, because of the Brady rules is not.
Stop the nonsencen on that hit. Part of Football r injuries.
I didnt like the fact the badry went down, but again, i didnt like went Ronnie went down to(a year be4, went the 1-15 happen) , but its part of the game.
Talking about injuries, in the game in Washington, brady got a lil hurt again, hope he is fine, i want to beat u guys without excuses, but if not, then so be it!
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(22 years and counting)
I didn't have a problem with the hit when it happened
So I don’t see where you get off telling me to “stop the nonsense on that hit.” I’ve said it plenty of times before, I didn’t think it was a dirty hit. He was trying to finish the play and I won’t fault him for that.
But it’s not legal anymore, and for him to do something extremely similar to Matt Cassel is just idiotic. That’s all I was trying to say.
I got lost went u said
" But after you’ve seen what kind of harm something like that can do" thats went i ask myself, Playing football, overall, is harmfull. If u wana play flag football, them fine, but EVERY play in football could be catathophic, u know?
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(22 years and counting)

welcome krayfish
any fan of the patriots is welcomed here. even though i’m also a raiders fan(like the analogy you used against a raider fan. pretty funny!), but i’m not the type to disrespect a team(just certain players), so i wish you guys to have the best season you can accomplish. cassel to bowe will be fun to watch. how’s the chemistry between those two? are they beginning to have a football relationship like brady and moss?
Hi krayfish
Good to see you visiting over here. AP is a terrific site and I try to drop in a few times a week, but I haven’t stayed to comment recently. Now with training camp and preseason underway, there is actual news and honest-to-football related subjects to talk about.
I’ve grown too attached to certain members of the Patriots organization (or former members) to stop rooting for them to succeed just because they’ve moved on to a different team and city. Wish you guys well this season.
Keep the faith!
If you want to see Mike Vrabel in one of his finest games...
check out this highlight clip of the Pats-Redskins 2007 game, from NFL Game Center. Vrabel was a beast that day.
Keep the faith!
Hope you upset the Chargers
at least once ;-)
Take care of Matty C.

…suffice to say, the Chiefs will have a lot of support in these parts too. We’re all rooting for Cassel.
I agree with patriotguy2; we’ve all got our team loyalties, but I have a lot more fun interacting with rival fans when it’s upbeat, analytical, and objective rather than when there’s any nastiness. Hope you drop by time to time throughout the season and join in the fun here!
If you love 'em so much, why don't you marry them?
The Pats are pretty much my second favorite team. Hell half our organization is made up x-Patriots. Anyway, I love the Patriot organization, the team, and the fans.
There is no such thing as your “second favorite team”. There is your team and the other thirty-one teams who must be crushed beneath your boot heel. There is no other way.

no... there can be a "second favorite team"
If Peyton and a few other players were traded or otherwise ended up on any team other than the Titans, Jaguars or Patriots and coached by Dungy, would you follow them and root a bit for your former players or not?
Keep the faith!
Marima..
if that happen to u guys, would u cheer 4 thaqt team?
I mean, if Brady, Belli, Moss(?), wait forget Moss. If Brady and coach went to another team will u cheer 4 that team and even say GO Dallas, for example? I think not!
BTW i said, forgat Moss, cause he started with Minn, as a matter of fact, most of ur star player came from other teams, so i guest u want EVERYBODY to cheer 4 the pats lol
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(22 years and counting)
it really depends...
…on how the players or coach leave the team. If a player leaves in a nasty contract or trade dispute and sours his relationship with the fan base, then the loyalty and desire to see that player succeed with another team diminishes dramatically (similar to the Jay Cutler situation in Denver).
But if players leave because of family issues, a desire to be closer to their parents, want a chance to play for their hometown team before they retire, etc., fans generally don’t begrudge them for that. There are “right” reasons for leaving a team, and they’re pretty obvious when you hear them.
Sometimes, it’s just time for both the team and a player to move on. Drew Bledsoe engenders a lot of warm memories for New England fans even though he wasn’t THE guy for us. We continued to root for him in Buffalo (except when he played against us, of course) and, to a lesser extent, Dallas. Players who don’t want to leave but are forced to, either by trade or just because the situation isn’t tenable for them anymore, we’ll still root for.
Exactly the feeling I got.
Mangini left under a cloud, and I doubt many Pats fans wish him well. Scott Pioli and Josh McDaniels, however, both left with handshakes and thanks from Belichick, and I’d imagine there are a lot of Pats fans who view the Chiefs and Broncos in a more positive light because of it.
If it doesn’t hurt the team you particularly support, why not have a second favourite? It’s like “I’d like the Chiefs/Broncos/whoever to have success unless it’s against the Pats.” I see nothing wrong with the concept of a second-favourite team.

doesnt have to be like that either
i like the vikings because of jared allen and ap, i like the bears because matt forte is the shit, and i like many other teams simply by their character and identity. that’s why i like the pats too(and living in MA too.). my LEAST favorite team i have to say is the cowboys, because of their overall character and thiking their the best team in the world. granted tony homo(uh, i mean romo) may be a great guy, but i could care less about him. my second favorite teamis the raiders, because of my step dad who got me into them. i always cheered for them(except against the pats) to have success and when they don’t, i still stick by them. i’ve been a raiders fan for a few years now.
you don’t have to have one favorite team. if you like to cheer for a team to have success, than your a fan. but if yo ujust like one team, and no one else, than that’s your choice.
by patriotguy2 on Aug 30, 2009 12:25 PM EDT up reply actions
It doesn't matter where our players came from
but it does matter how they left. Scott Pioli, Mike Vrabel, Matt Cassel left to go to the Chiefs. Vrabel came from the Steelers but I still have fond memories of his time in New England and wish him well. Scott Pioli wanted to run his own show on another team, but left on excellent terms with the entire Patriots organization and the apprecation of the fans. I’ll watch Kansas City games with more interest this year because of them. And how can we not root for a class guy like Matt Cassel???
The same goes for Josh McDaniels in Denver and the former Patriots players that found a home there. McDaniels is a good guy, performed admirably here, and except in head-to-head matches I’d enjoy seeing him succeed with the Broncos.
Mangini I’ll never root for, simply because he was a back-stabbing thieving weasel. When good character guys go out on good terms, I don’t see how I could just start hating on them because they wear a different uniform.
Keep the faith!
You misunderstand...
It’s alright to cheer on individual players, I mean, if that weren’t true every fantasy football player would be labeled a traitor and burned at the stake. It’s all fine and dandy to tout an individuals accomplishments, but players change teams all the time. You can’t hold their past affiliations against them or you’d end up hating over half of your own team. But, the thing is, at the end of the day we’re not fans of the individual. We’re not Peyton fans or Edge fans or Marvin fans, we’re Colts fans. The thing that is absolutely inexcusable is cheering on an entire team not your own. ESPECIALLY one in your own conference! It is as unnatural a thing as any true fan can ever conceive of doing. This travesty is compounded even further if it so happens that your team sucks and your “second favorite team” just happens to be one of the best teams in the NFL. This then makes you look like a groveling sycophant trying to suck up to the big dogs in hopes of getting tossed a bone.
The guy should just go ahead and trade in that Priest Holmes jersey for a Tom Brady jersey and call it a day.

Player turnover
What about affiliations based on loyalty to a coach or manager? They don’t turn over as regularly (unless you’re Parcells). Belichick and the Pats organisation seemed content enough with Pioli and McDaniels going to the Chiefs and Broncos respectively, to the point that a number of trades was worked out between them to get ex-Pats players on their rosters. There are a number of connections between the teams at all levels – management, coaching, rosters. If Belichick has loyalty enough to McDaniels and Pioli in order to wangle such trades and support, why shouldn’t Pats fans have similar loyalty and respect for them?

Hope i dont get banm, but in reality, what u r discribing is a bandwagon. U ight ask why?
Well, if my team sucks and a player from the past or a coach(both excuses) is in a contender team, then im ok to cheer for that team? lol Guys, sorry, but that in my book is been a bandwagon, cause u r looking for an excuses to route fior a contender.
Thats why NE has so many fans now?, ppl were fan of Brady since college and went Ne became a great team, they fans from other team came cheer for ne because of that tide they have with Brady in college? lol
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(22 years and counting)
Chiefs...
were absolutely awful last year, 2-14 if I remember correctly. Seriously, bandwagoning the Chiefs because they are a contender? They’re only two wins above the Lions, who had the worst record ever. And they’re 9 wins (half a season!) behind your Dolphins. That’s just ludicrous. Not to mention that their top receiver since… ever… Tony Gonzalez is gone. Were I to bandwagon a likely winner, I’d be some awful split personality Colts-Giants-Patriots-Eagles-Steelers fan.
It beggars belief to call the Chiefs a contender for a Superbowl. Bandwagon indeed.
by Comedic.Sans on Aug 30, 2009 7:13 PM EDT up reply actions
who said anything about rooting for a contender????
we’ve all been talking about rooting for former pats that now play for other teams — where in the world do you come up with us rooting for other teams because now they’re contenders? You should really read the comments before ripping everyone. Plus have you ever heard of spell-check?
New England started selling out their stadium with the hiring of Bill Parcells. Period. Before Brady, before Kraft, before Belichick. Have the three Super Bowl wins this decade earned them more fans than ever before? Absolutely – but more jealous haters too.
Keep the faith!
"Contender" has nothing to do with it
You’re acting as if our loyalty to these players is dependent on where they go. I think everyone on here would be rooting for Cassel regardless of where he wound up (outside of the division or our usual playoff rivals of the Steelers and Colts), whether it was Denver, Tampa Bay, heck, even the Lions.
Suppose Marino had wanted to play his final years with the Broncos in the late 90’s. Are you telling me that it wouldn’t have made you happy to see a guy who gave your Dolphins all those years of dedicated service finally get the ring he deserved, as one of the all time greats? Heck, even as a Patriots fan it would have made me happy to see him get one.
If having respect for players and understanding that they are human beings and not just robots who pull on our team color every Sunday is bandwagoneering, call me Mr. A1 Bandwagon-driver.
A thought on "dependant on where they go"...
There might be a smidgen of that. Favre in Purple… blasphemy. Still, apparently having nice thoughts about Pats players going to the absolute powerhouse of playoff football that was the 2-win-2008 Chiefs is a bandwagon. We’re obviously dealing with a genius here.

No ties to the Steelers
There isn’t really any Pats-Steeler connection to speak of. No ex-coaches/players/personnel from one on the other, and in particular no recent coach/player swapping like what happened between the Pats and Chiefs/Broncos. In other words, there is no real reason for any Pats fans to have any kind of fondness for the Steelers above any other team in the NFL, in comparison to all the ties between the current Pats and current Chiefs and Broncos.
by Comedic.Sans on Aug 30, 2009 6:11 PM EDT up reply actions
Sure, that's attached to the players...
I’m not saying it’s impossible to like Steelers players – I’m a fan of Troy Polamalu and Hines Ward – but that’s out of respect for their skills, abilities, attributes as players, etc. That’s not out of loyalty due to their service as Pats players/coaches/managers. And if Polamalu, Ward, Wille Parker went out and played for someone else, I’d probably like their new team. It’s more the players than the team, in other words, whereas fondness for McDaniels or Scott Pioli stems out of something different.

I am a fan of football first.
Pick any game, and I have a team to root for (like FOR any team that plays the Colts). I root for the Pats, follow the Pats, know the name of every 5th string potential backup for the Pats, and am moved when good Pat players retire or go to other teams. I ALWAYS root for the Pats!
My wife is a Steelers fan (I love her, not her team). I root for the Steelers unless it would be harmful to the Pats. When the Pats didn’t go to the playoffs, I rooted for the Dolphins to represent OUR division. I NEVER root for a division rival during the season (with the exception that I rooted for the Jets to beat the Dolphins, so the Pats could go to the playoffs).
I have MY team that I follow, and a preference in any other game played. I always prefer the Colts to lose. Simple.
