Kevin O'Connell waived
In a surprising move, the Patriots have waived backup Kevin O'Connell. Props to shoein for picking this up.

Interesting
Just heard the news on my way back home. Just goes to show that ya never know what the front office is thinking. The radio guy (I don’t know who) was speculating that the Pats may be thinking of bringing in a veteran in case Brady can’t play. I don’t even want to go down that road.
Keep the faith!
So who makes the roster?
Does this make Edelman the third QB, with Walter as the backup?
The Pats can’t possibly be that comfortable with Walter after just a month. BB must be really disappointed with O’Connell’s progress in the offseason.
I'm surprised
I know he didn’t look all that impressive in preseason, but I thought the team would give him more time than that to develop.
Could be an attitude thing.
BB doesn’t have alot of patience for that crap. Play smart, do your job, keep your mouth shut.
It could also be that he wasn’t learning from his mistakes. Also a quick way to the door.
The more you know, the more you know that you don't know.

Most likely.
I know they were tweaking his mechanics a lot, and they probably felt it just wasn’t gonna work out. Not enough progress, and not good enough to remain on the roster with all of the talented players we have at our disposal.
Brady
What I’m worried about is that this is sign Brady is injured badly, and the Pats are seeking another team’s backup to be a starter here – whoever loses out at the Browns or one of the Bucs or a play at AJ Feeley.
What I’m hoping for is that they’re convinced Walter is a solid #2 QB and that Edelman is an option to replace O’Connel’s wheels.
Maybe keep an eye on the Browns or Bucs or Eagles boards for news about their QBs for any trade information?
Brady played in the 2006 AFC Championship game with a separated shoulder
— his throwing shoulder. He didn’t look too worried about it on the bench, and he was able to be helped up off the ground with a player pulling him up by the same arm. He’s got two weeks to heal from his “bumps and bruises”. Let’s wait and see.
Keep the faith!
