Time for some 2009 season awards....
It's the end of the season and while the Patriots are clearing out their lockers, we fans will continue to have much to talk about. For instance: Problems of the 2009 season, free agents that need to be signed, draft needs that need to be addressed and staff that need to be added. I'm going to step outside that and present some awards to the people that made all of this conversation not only possible, but enjoyable. Some folks here on PatsPulpit.
Right away I want to say that the problem with awards is good people get left out. Unfortunately, I know I will leave people out that I would have liked to mention. If you feel I've left someone out, or you've got some awards that you would like to give, feel free to list them in the comments.
Without further ado, here's SMP's 2009 season awards: (after the jump)
Best provider of a sport blog site: SBNation, the kind folks behind all of our interaction here and on many other sports blogs.
Most valuable player: MaPatsFan, between his stories, his interviews, and all he does to keep the blog an enjoyable place to interact (please never give the keys to BigBS again) no one else comes close.
Best regular feature: Marima, and her one stop shopping for all Patriots related news. Required reading for all Pats fans; I'd hate to start my day without it.
Most popular fanpost: RSNexile, Time to start over from scratch (13 recs) A satirical approach to gutting the current team for the chance to be like the Lions.
Favorite fanpost: ProfessorTodd, The Latest Wave of Patriot-hating and Where it Comes From Analyzed the hate that most Pats fans see directed toward their beloved team.
Best fanpost by a non-Patriots fan, DolphinsInBuffalo, Congrats to the 2009 AFC East Champions... A nod to the Pats for winning the division this year.
Rookie of the Year award: The Hill, from new contributor to creator of the popular series "Hill's Power Rankings" to Author. (Note: In the comments, The Hill said Defensive Rookie of the Year goes to me for defending your eyes from filth, and Offensive Rookie of the Year goes to him because his writing is offensive, LOL. Couldn't argue with that logic.)
Best role player: Comedic.Sans, (in the mold of Welker, Brown, and Vrable) Whether offering intelligent discourse in posts, baffling Trolls with intelligence, or adding humorous quips throughout the site, C.S keeps things lively and interesting. Note: I originally called this the Best supporting actor award, but it sounded too Hollywood. Role-player fits the Patriots to a tee.
Best Thread-jacking: FaroreFox, Comedic.Sans, and myself, Stole one of Marima's morning links and took it for a ride.
12th Man Award: j-man, the fan who is more than a fan of his team, he is a fan of the game - so much so that he contributes in an ambassador fashion to every team's site. A fanbassador, if you will.
If I get some time, I may add more. Feel free to add your own.
The views expressed in these FanPosts are not necessarily those of the writers or SBNation.

I like LegendaryTadpole's posts...
…always very thought out. I wish he’d post more.
Also, I wish C.S. wrote on more ideas he has because he’s usually right on target. I enjoy reading what he has to say.
Offensive Coordinator > Guard > Tackle > DE > OLB > RB > WR > CB
I agree on both.
Alas, C.S has only written one fanpost. He has an excellent grasp of the game.

I'm usually later on the news than everyone else
Because I’m a time-zone or two ahead, so I’m usually sleeping with stories break, and I don’t get the local press to whinge about, because they’re focusing on other things (not sheep, before you say it, SMP).
In saying that, I might do some magical mind-reading and see how well I can do at predicting Hoodie off-season moves. Dun dun dunnn.

Dear southern hemisphere guy...

If you would be so kind, please send me an email at patspulpit at gmail.com. I have some ideas related to this.

Thanks
I didn’t really discover this site until part-way through the season—I plan to be a full-time contributor from here on. If I get a working computer, that is. My laptop’s now broken for the 3rd time in 4 months, which is why I’ve been absent the last couple of weeks. Oh well.
Oh, if a man tried to take his time on earth, and prove before he died

Copycats
I jest- wait wrong terminology, lemme rephrase, I kid…
If Mini Anden and Percy Harvin had a kid, and that kid grew up to play Syracuse basketball….ragnarok.
As an engineer, I'm not opposed to "borrowing" ideas that aren't patented or copyrighted (as applicable).
Nice wheel you guys got there - it looks a lot like ours….

Cool idea.
But I do say you need to include yourself. I say you win the award for the overall greatest guy on the site. Thanks for being such a great football fan and person (I think this is the second time I’ve told you this.)

I’d give you defensive rookie of the year as you’re the Mod.
I’ll take the offensive rookie as I write things that are offensive to the eyes.

Lots of fun
Let me start over, that is what happens when you press the enter button to quick. Had a great time reading your posts, they were well writen and thought out. Lets keep up the good work and great posts. Since I am kind of new and have only posted a handful of posts, what does (recs) mean next too comments?
by Brady's Revenge on Jan 18, 2010 11:06 AM EST reply actions
To "rec" a comment is to give it a thumbs up
If you click on the red “actions” link next to “reply” you’ll find two choices – Rec or Flag. If you really enjoyed the comment or point made, then you can Recommend it by clicking on “Rec”.
Consequently, if you find a comment offensive, derogatory, insulting or spam, then you can anonymously click on the “Flag” link. Only the moderator will see which comments have been flagged and will then decide whether or not to delete the comments and/or warn the perpetrator.
Keep the faith!
I like your contributions, and your look at free agent series.
I’ve got my eye on you for next year….

Nice to be appreciated
Thanks SMP. Glad you included yourself in the always amusing thread-jacking (look, a squirrel!) department. Hope that feature continues with some regularity in 2010. It always perked me up after a loss and usually had me laughing out loud.
We sure have some great characters in this neighborhood. You all are the best.
Keep the faith!
Steal this Thread will continue shortly.
People had many good (and football-centric) posts in the last few weeks and it seemed like it would detract from that.
As we enter the long off-season, we’re going to need want some other distractions, and I hope everyone is willing to jump in.

THE JETS ARE WINN-- look, a squirrel!
I’ve never seen a squirrel in reality. Just thought you guys would want to know. They’re not cool enough for zoos, I suppose. Meerkats, but no squirrels.
If I put them in little green uniforms and put eyepaint on their cheeks, would they look like Mark Sanchez?

I used to have a pet squirrel named DJ. No lie.
The neighbor’s cat killed the mother, so I got him before his eyes were open. Made a great pet.
I’d show you pictures, but you would laugh (harder) at me.

and echo her thanks, SMP. It is nice to be recognized and I appreciate your selection of my post for the award. I also agree with the others on here that you definitely belong on this awards section someplace. I always enjoy your comments on my work and on other posts as well. You do a lot to make this a great site and so, while you’re handing out awards you should give yourself some acknowledgment, too!

He's had a few, depending on what you meant by 'from'
Went to Bowling Green State University (in Ohio, where he’s from) as a student.
He was a D Coordinator and secondary coach at Findlay, Ohio. Then he was D Coordinator and secondary coach at Miami (Ohio). A stint as secondary coach at Navy, four years as D Coordinator at the University of Toledo, a year as secondary coach at Notre Dame, three years as inside linebackers coach and D Coordinator at Michigan State rounds off his career-building. He was Head Coach at Kent State from 1998-2003, from which he joined the Pats – ‘04-’05 Linebackers coach, and ‘06-’09 as D Coordinator.
No real links to Denver or Colorado from what I can see. Looking at his career, though, he had a lot of interaction with the Hoodie coaching tree – at Navy he was under Elliott Uzelac (Uzelac was hired by Belichick in Cleveland). He then re-entered the Hoodie coaching-tree by working under Nick Saban at Toledo (1990-1993) and Michigan (1995-1997), and then worked for Belichick outright when he was at the Pats from ’04-now.
Interestingly enough, Belichick seems to have more ties to Denver; he was Broncos defensive assistant and assistant special teams coach in 1978.

My bad. But then I realised how little I knew about the guy when I looked it up, especially about him being more of a Saban underling than a home-grown Hoodie product.
