It's not what it sounds like
Mankins and Vincent Jackson were advised by the NFLPA to report to their teams in time to play the required number of games to change their restricted free agent status to unrestricted for 2011.
They’re basically saying that they’re not going to push for them to get an exemption from their restricted status, while bargaining for the new CBA. It’s not worth it for the Players Association to fight for a concession that would only affect two players in the league.
In other words, to get what he wants, he HAS to report by Nov. 16th. It’s not like he’s ending his holdout voluntarily.
Keep the faith!
