Dear Patriots Senior Management
When you trade Randy Moss, I will become a Houston Texans fan. I hate you for destroying our season by trading Moss away for a pick in a round that we would've gained anyways if he left. Stop selling Brady's final years away. You gave up Richard Seymour for a first round, and I can understand that. But giving up a future hall of fame receiver for nothing that will help us this year? Why would you do this to his fans? Why would you give the unholy Brett Favre another toy to play with and maybe save their season? Wouldn't you like the brutal irony of Favre coming back and having no receiver to throw to? Keep trading away fan favorites, and eventually your fans will start leaving too.
Sincerely,
One Disgruntled Patriotexans fan.

Nobody was going to give more.
It’s all on film. Moss is no longer a superfreak WR. He is an aging WR whose ability to get separation is largely a thing of the past. His actions of late sealed his fate.

I think Moss
causing trouble of late mitigated the Vikes desperation.

You're talking about the team that sent players to beg Favre to get off his tractor...

We wouldn't have gotten that 3rd round pick at the end of the season
At least, not for this coming draft. : \
And you know…Cameron O says that, but then I wonder why Moss couldn’t do this here. I mean, not a single catch Monday night? I mean, I just wanna see Moss go off while he’s with the Vikings before I believe this trade was a bad idea.
It wouldn't have been higher than a 5th
because Moss is a 10+ year vet. So they upgraded at least two rounds and moved up a year.
Don't come knocking if we make the playoffs.
Plenty of room on the bandwagon, but it’s not a revolving door.
As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about. --Shaun of the Dead

Hah. Solid.
I don’t really understand what the Texans have to do with a personnel disagreement.

Reports say
Brady was asked and said trade Moss, his effort was lacking.
Moss is not the player he was. The young receivers look very good. This was a good move.
But if anybody is no longer going to be a Pats fan because Moss was traded; well, we don’t need fans like that anyway, now do we.
(I have seen no official info that we would have gotten a 3rd if Moss was signed as a FA, and the unofficial stuff I have seen about that says it would have been in 2012 even if it was so)

just on a board (he said talk radio in Minn)
(unconfirmed) without a link, but from somebody I trust. could be true or not, but I expect they did talk to Tom about it, and Moss is traded, so….

I'd be stunned if they DIDN'T ask Brady...
you don’t take away his toys without asking him first.

yeah, maybe
But it was a shocker – and a bit of a kick in the stomach – to the fans, so I can understand the reaction. As much as I’ll miss Moss, I’m going to ride this one out and see what happens. The NFL = the best reality show ever. Ya can’t make this stuff up.
Keep the faith!
Don't get me wrong
I’ll miss Moss dearly. He was an incredible athlete and in my opinion nothing was more exciting than seeing Moss go up for a ball and make a play. I was down all morning because I felt that he was traded for fractions of his value. But the more I thought about the trade and the more I kept reading about bad chemistry in the locker room (different blog entry here) the more sense the trade seemed to make. BB got what he could and kept the locker room from getting shredded from the inside out. He obviously thought this was the best move for the team and I’m going to have to quote the mantra of "In Bill I Trust" on this one. I think my main point is that, we as fans sometimes overreact when we don’t have the same information that the players and the coaching staff have. This is understandable because we’re all emotionally invested in this team. But a little positive thinking and maybe a little deep breathing wouldn’t hurt! There is a lot of young talent on this team and someone is going to need step up. I believe someone will step up, it’s only a matter of whom.

Positivity= longevity
I’ll admit, I was floored when it was confirmed this happened. Especially at how fast it all went down. “How could someone of Moss’s caliber say one thing, and then initiate another thing? That SOB, I hate his guts!!” All of those thoughts were crossing my mind all in one fall swoop, and I didn’t even take a second to rationally take myself and my interests out of it and think about how other people deal.
It’s been about 22 hours since the rumors started flying, and, believe it or not, I’m actually excited to see what this team will be like, how it will adapt without Moss for the first time in 3 and 1/4 seasons. I hold no animosity to anyone who wants to better themselves, and their quality of life, and that is what Moss felt like this trade would do.
Now it’s all about being patient and being optimistic. Because everytime it rains, it’s bound to be sunny again, right? It’s just the circle of life, and all of this trading stuff? It’s the business of football.
I don't think so. Homey don't play dat.
Still....
no excuse for this type of crap. I take pride in being an “all Boston” fan, and hate it when guys like this freak out and threaten to root for another team. They are an embarrassment to our fan base! The Jets had three fans 2 years ago, and and now look at them! Two years from now they will have 2 fans (I’m basing this on the assumption that the fireman is going to fall off the ledge.) There is no good excuse for not rooting for your team through thick and thin, and compared to the rest of the league, we are still in the “thick” part. I would be embarrassed to go to a Jet game and get all painted up knowing I didn’t even watch their games 3 years ago, and yet they do. The rest of the NFL fans may hate us, but at least we can outlast them and act with some class. This post shows none of that. I’ll miss Randy, but my team is the Patriots, no matter who is on it!

That amazes me the most
The team is 3-1…last time I checked that’s a winning record. It’s Week 5…last time I checked there were 16 games to be played. I’ve just learned over my short life to be patient, and let the cards fall where they may. Whatever happens, the universe has planned for it to happen.
As far as this team, anyone who jumps off the ledge obviously isn’t here for the long term, and that doesn’t bother me. Get off the train, transfer, and the train goes on.
I don't think so. Homey don't play dat.
Not so shocking.
The Pats insist you keep your mouth shut. Randy didn’t. They remember whenever you rock the boat, and sooner or later they will deal with you. Ask Seymour about that. There can be a delay depending on their need. But if you are not a vital cog and you criticize the team in any way, adios. For example, Mankins is toast with this team, period. No apology public or otherwise will change that. The list is long because there are a lot of players who just can’t shutup.
Bob Kraft describing the first time he met Tom Brady: "He looked me in the eye and added, 'I'm the best decision this organization has ever made."
Brady and Vince were pretty quiet
(with the exception of the “franchise tag is a slap in the face” comment), and both got paid. Mankins and Moss weren’t so much, and where are they?

At this point
I’m thinking Randy’s behavior had little to do with the trade. The media has been hyping his actions as a catalyst for this but I’m seeing past that at this point. Publicly all he has said is he loves being a Pat and wishes he had a contract with them. I’m thinking more that the Pats just gave him a way to put up numbers and get the payday he needs. (made a new post detailing that thought)
Bob Kraft describing the first time he met Tom Brady: "He looked me in the eye and added, 'I'm the best decision this organization has ever made."
I'm divided...
I see that as likely, just knowing the way the Pats do business. But then there’s the report that Moss annoyed the ownership… and that’s reminiscent of the story that Mankins also found himself in the dog house because he insulted the ownership.
While Belichick has control of roster issues, the Krafts sign the cheques, and in both circumstances it was clear the player wasn’t going to have a big cheque see daylight, ever.

Publicly
Randy was glowing about the organization. His lament was not having a secure future with a team he loves. Nothing bad about that.
As far as being a problem behind the scenes, we have no real evidence of that so we can’t assume it was so.
We know Mankins publicly lashed out against the team. Randy did the opposite really.

You should have just addressed this to BB
and no offence, but he doesn’t care about you or the fans, he cares about winning. Which is why, in the end, he usually ends up winning. I don’t always like or agree with what he does, but I LOVE the results. I’ve been a fan from the early 80’s and I gotta tell you I love the sustained success my favorite team has had because this guy puts winning and T-E-A-M above all. He is a cut-throat and a proven winner! I’m hoping you get over it and continue rooting for the Pats, but if you’re the type not to because of this….well….goodbye good sir, hope the Texans do you well!
1 fading star wont save the vikings, they have too many otherfundemental problems, I truly believe the Pats are concentrating on the future ,Likely to have a top 5 pick from the Raiders. Moss was gone after this year in any case, and in reality the Vikes have just rented hin for 3/4 of a season,I think the Vikes are delusional if they think Moss is going to turn them into a contender right away, Farve is not good this year, put a fork in him ,he’s done.TB has lots of other weapons withthe awesome TE crew and Welker, Tate( aka Devon Hester II) could develop into a deep threat too.
why the texans
denver is bulild something for 11 12 i seem that houston system before kabiak just copyed form shanny weak running game i see denver knocking out houston in week 16 yes at times McD takes too many chances but i am old school at least he wants to win i am glad josh is in Denver he tryed to win the right way

To the people claiming i'm some sort of "fairweather" fan
fair enough. If your definition of a true fan is someone who can only root for one team. I don’t follow that philosophy. The Patriots are my favorite team, in any sport, period. However, I like the Texans and Ravens as well, and usually pick an NFC team to root for throughout the year. I’m not ashamed, because I know that when it gets down to business, if any of these teams played my boys I would be cheering against them mercilessly. This was posted in shock due to the announcement of the trade. I’ve said to many of my buddies that I understand the move, I just don’t have to be okay with it. I would’ve liked Randy to retire as a Patriot, lining up alongside Wes and Brady for the next four years.
I’ve got big walnuts. Gorilla nuts.
No problem. I'd like to see Randy stay as a Patriot as well.
I’d rather see the team win for a long time.
The one doesn’t have to have anything to do with the other. We’ll see.
As of now it’s too late to cry over a split Moss. It’s time to make the most of what we have and stand behind the guys that are here. For better or for worse.
My life has been a trivial pursuit. Trivia: where three roads meet.
The more you know, the more you know that you don't know.
