5 Observations
1. Anybody want Kyle Wilson over Devin McCourty now?
2. At 6-1, I hear no more talk around the league that the Patriots don’t have a defensive and offensive coordinator named, and how Bill has taken on too much.
3. Can’t think of a better mid-season pickup that can help this team than Mankins signing his tender. Let’s hope he is ready in time for the Steelers aggressive defense or the annual affair with Peyton and the Colts.
4. Anybody would have thought that LT, Cedric Benson, Ronnie Brown, Ray Rice, Ryan Mathews or Adrian Peterson would not eclipse the 100 yard mark yet against the Patriots especially with Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden out for the year?
5. Danny Woodhead has transformed himself into Kevin Faulk right before our very eyes. He always has a knack for where the first down marker is and is very elusive in open space. Thanks Rex for your impeccable talent evaluation.

1. Yeah, Mel Kiper does
2. Now we’re hearing how ‘the young defense is growing up/maturing right before our eyes.’ Nod to Belichick.
3. I’m hoping Mankins leaves his chip back on the farm.
4. Good thing the offense is carrying this team until the defense gets a clue.
5. I love me some Danny Woodhead. Terrific instincts and awareness. Just what the Pats need with Faulk out.
Keep the faith!

A defense whose starters are mostly rookies or players with less than three years NFL experience is consistently bailing out an offense featuring All-Pros, Pro Bowlers and Super Bowl MVPs.
This is a crazy, crazy season.

I still think this team would have benefited from bringing in an established offensive coach. I was never worried about Belichick’s increased involvement with the defense (I think most people lauded the move, considering their lackluster style of play in clutch situations under Pees). I do think the brain drain has significantly impacted the offense, though. With Weis long departed, along with his lone disciple, the remaining offensive coaching talent outside of Scar is relatively unimpressive.
I’m not saying O’Brien won’t eventually be up to the task, but I think we are definitely viewing the results of his growing pains every week. Once he gets into a rhythm with his play calls, it’s smooth sailing; but he struggles with the initial establishment of momentum that this offense seems to need in order to make things happen. I think a more experienced coordinator would realize the offense’s in-game needs a little sooner, and we’d see less frustration and fewer three-and-outs.
nbradley who would u suggest they bring in ?
where as i agree with u 100 percent would like a weiss or mcdaniels type coach here in new england i am not 100 percent sold on obrien although he has done much better this year then last so far. the thing that people overlook is that bb has his systems in place and they have proved to have been quite successful he has had his coaching tree raided over the last 5 years which is how it works when a team has so much success. but coaches like mike martz dom capers gregg williams cam cameron etc they wouldnt do any good here cause they would bring thier own systems in and not bb system. so bill has to groom coaches from the ground up and sometimes that takes some time.

No one here wanted Wilson….
1) He went to Boise State
2) He reminds me of Asante Shamuel

L.T and Greene > Woodhead.
Obviously he’s better thank Mcknight, but it would look terrible if they cut their 4th round pick without playing a game.
Pats did it in 2007...but then again that team had few holes to fill
L.T and Greene > Woodhead.
no one is saying that LT and Green is worse than Woody when it comes to running the ball…what we are saying is that
Woody> LT and Green on 3rd downs.

With the cash the Jets have in LT and Shonn Greene...
you could buy an army of Woodheads.
Hmm, an army of Woodheads…
