Steal This Thread - Adalius Thomas Edition

By now you know the drill:

This thread (named in dubious honor [or honour for Comedic.Sans] of a book titled Steal This Book) is a thread that was designed to be stolen.  Random thoughts, check.  Inane observations, perfectly fine.  Multiple segues, the more the merrier.  Goofy pictures, haiku, whatever.  If the thread gets unwieldy, I'll create a new sandbox for us to play in.  Feel free to jump in, the water's fine.

Alg_favre-sacked_medium

This is by far my favorite Adalius Thomas picture.  Brett has an "I'm screwed" look in his eyes that seems to question coming out of "retirement" in the first place.  The running back just came along for the ride as he attempted to block Thomas.  Adalius just grabbed everything Gang Green and tossed it on the ground (about twenty yards back).

Adalius had has serious potential.  When he's clicking, he's nigh unstoppable.

He started here with the humble pie T-Shirts.  The ones that had "I EAT IT" on the front and "HUMBLE PIE" on the back.  It looked like the makings of a guy that had his head on right.  Wanted to set aside self and be part of a team.  More than that, he wanted everyone else along for the ride.  What was not to love?

Since Mike of the Vrabel clan was rather abruptly flown out of town, it seems Adalius has adopted a different attitude.  Maybe he has, or maybe Vrabel and Bruschi were no longer there to contain the malcontent he always was.  Of course, it is impossible to say for sure; especially in Foxborough.  Life goes on, the team goes on, yet Adalius isn't going on.  I was pretty confident that Adalius' sack numbers would increase last year.  He was going to show the kids how to do the job old school.  Instead, he was benched, put in on running downs and yanked on passing downs.  Pathetic.  Waste of talent either by the organization or Thomas himself.

This is the guy that has the skills to not only be a three down linebacker, but a GREAT three down linebacker.  The Pats are missing out.  Thomas is missing out.  Whatever happened in the past, Thomas needs to man up and show he can be the leader he should be.  Anything else points to the abysmal failure he's become.  If the Pats' scheme was to blame for Thomas' lack of production, then Belichick needs to talk to him and let him know that will change.  It's called communication, and great leaders know how to do it.  Bill, that one would be on you.

If Adalius can quit his petty squabbling, show up and WORK, the team can use him.  He has the talent and physical gifts to be great.  If he continues "The Adalius Thomas Show", then he should be gone ("Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.").  There are a number of ways to do rid ourselves of Mr. Thomas - especially in an uncapped year.  Adalius put up or shut up, it's really that simple.

Adalius Thomas of a few years ago:
"You’ve got to remember, I’m coming from Baltimore. People there wanted the limelight, people sought out the limelight, starting with the head coach. Everyone here shies away from being the star guy. Nobody on this team beats his chest. They just all go about their business and win."

I love that picture. Absolutely love it.

I’d love to know what he’s saying to Lord Favrequat too, but I bet that was an intimate moment only shared by those two.

The “Humble Pie” shirts got me on his bandwagon, and the 2 sacks he had in the 2007 Super Bowl plus that 2008 Jets game with the Favre sack won me over. Last year though? His attitude problem was huge after he was benched, and he never got over it. Tweeting to the media to rat out who was sent home after being late was inexcusable, and I jumped off that bandwagon in a hurry.

Keep the faith!

Post Note - this picture represents everything that could have...er could be with AT

I like SMPs post a lot, especially the last to paragraphs:

AT: Shut up and go all out, you beast of a man you.
BB: Talk it up, let your inner Maximus out and let AT know he has 16 games to ‘unleash Hell’

"You have the most beautiful eyes..."

Maybe that’s what Madden’s still swooning over?

So, are we making this a caption contest as well? What do you think?

Hmm. If you like...

I just couldn’t resist making a comment. I’d gone straight from one to the other; I was in caption-mode.

Sure, caption away. I'll look through here for a winner as well.
