New Patriots Assistant Corwin Brown Already Making An Impact
Mike Reiss reports Brandon Meriweather appreciates that Corwin Brown was a former NFL player.
"I think he’ll be extremely important. It’s the first safety coach I've ever had," Meriweather told a group of reporters. "I sat down and talked to him about five times and every time I talk to him, I’m intrigued by how much he knows. So it’s going to be good to actually have somebody I can actually communicate with who actually has played the position and knows what I’m looking at."
Asked a follow-up on how much credibility a coach has from having played in the NFL, Meriweather said it was a significant factor.
"It’s easy to say something when you’re just looking at it from an Xs and Os perspective, but until you actually have done it, you get a lot more credit when you say something," Meriweather stated.

Either.....Or
Either this is a real vote of confidence in Corwin Brown, or a not-so-subtle jab at Josh Boyer.
I hope it’s the former since I really think Brown can be a big help. And whatever struggles Boyer had in his first season as position coach should be minimized this year with more experience and some more coaching help. Re-signing Bodden doesn’t hurt, either.
Now, what would REALLY help the secondary is to improve the pass rush.
