Record 21 Tight-Ends Drafted This Year
New Louisiana Tech coach Sonny Dykes is one of the nation's top spread-offense minds, building some dynamic attacks as coordinator at Arizona before moving to Ruston. He knew having a tight end such as Gronkowski made calling plays easier for him in Tucson.
"Rob Gronkowski changed our offense," Dykes says. "We built the whole thing around what he could do. We thought he could single-block any [defensive] end in the Pac-10 and also run routes and get open."

And Miami didn't select a single one...
That’s a whole lot of faith in Fasano, Haynos, Nalbone, and Sperry.
The Dolphins are back! We've got a new team, we're Super Bowl bound, and they can't touch us!

Looks like it, especially Fasano.
Parcells, Ireland and Tony Sparano took Fasano at the Cowboys, and then they went out of their way to get him back under their control at the ’Phins, which I assume is about as big a vote of confidence in Fasano as you can get.
Haynos is a physical freak! 6’8", 270lbs. Man. That’s a pretty serious height/weight combination.
Between those two, and then the fullback Polite and the new guy, Lumbala, the ‘Phins have most of the bases covered for blocking/extra O-lineman/pass-catching. I guess there’s extra pressure on Fasano to stay healthy, as he’s the only TE with any real catching experience, but otherwise the TE/FB unit seems in fairly reasonable shape.

That's very true.
But fans and local Miami media members have clamored for a true, pass-catching TE that can stretch the field for some time now. We’ve ran a very high percentage of two-TE packages over the past two seasons (which makes a big guy like Haynos very useful), but I’d expect that to tail off with the addition of Marshall.

As long as someone's getting those yards/TDs/etc, I wouldn't worry
If anything, it might be a vote for Henne, too – a big pass-catching TE is a safety valve for inexperienced/underqualified QBs, and if Parcells thinks they can go without a pure pass-catching stud, and instead get ‘real’ weapons like Marshall, it might suggest he’s pretty confident.

I certainly hope you're right.
But in the eyes of many fans, unfortunately, it gets misconstrued as “Well, the front office obviously doesn’t recognize the needs of this team”, when in all actuality, that’s probably not the case at all. They don’t want to see Parcells stand pat on Fasano and Haynos, they want to see the next Antonio Gates.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. There's still plenty of meat on that bone. Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you've got a stew goin'!
