Jason Cole ranks the New England Patriots Defensive Line 10th
New England Patriots: There’s a lot of concern with the Patriots management that Vince Wilfork is going to bloat now that he has gotten paid. That would be sad because Wilfork is the best nose man Bill Belichick has ever coached. Wilfork could end up in the Hall of Fame if he works at it. More important, the Patriots desperately need him to lead a line that is in serious decline. In addition to the trade of Richard Seymour last year, former top-shelf backup Jarvis Green is gone, leaving an aging Ty Warren as the only other accomplished lineman. Mike Wright and Damione Lewis provide backup and second-year man Ron Brace better make up for a poor rookie season.

So Wilfork is bloating and the line is in "serious decline", yet we rank 10th?
If we’re THAT BAD, then Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets, Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks, and Carolina Panthers it must REALLY SUCK to be you.

...of course it's possible that Jason Cole is full of it. Just saying....

i disagree mr cole i disagree
are we the 10 rated 3-4 line or are we tenth no matter what line u play in? 4 man lines have a totally different job to do then a 3 man line. i know everyone is aging but he made it sound like warren is 34 he is 29 still in his prime in my opinion. losing seymour hurt i agree but we werent going to sign him so getting a first round pick for him was the right thing to do. warren is a pro bowl caliber end in the 3-4 defense doesnt get the notoriety as he should. wilfork is a beast on the nose and his work ethic has never been questioned before so i dont see him getting fat on this contract. i do think they draft some 3-4 ends early next years draft for the future but i think this line is a top 5 3-4 line, and wright i think more then makes up for jarvis green.
Tenth overall, and he does talk about how he leaned towards 40 lines.
It is alot easier to get measurables on a 1 gap 40 line than a 2 gap 30 line. Measurables make his job easier, and he doesn’t have to actually watch football.

plus brace was lost last year
he got stuck in the rookie wash, but they say he has learned the playbook and caught up with the mental side to the physical side of the game.
Brace also got lost in Wilfork's contract dealings.
Last year:
“So Ron, you want me to show you how to be the most dominant nose tackle in the NFL so that you can take my job”, questions Wilfork, “Not bloody likely, chump.”
This year:
“Why am I smiling?”, questions Wilfork, “The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, I got paid, the wife’s happy so I got laid….”
Wilfork: “Hey, Ron, in order for us to win a Super Bowl, I’m going to need a block eater on my right side. Welcome to the Vince Wilfork school of line dominance. Now hop up here and hold back these two semi trucks….”
Brace panting: “Hey this is really hard.”
Wilfork, pushing back two locomotives: “That’s rookie level, we work up from there….”

Wilfork himself was playing second fiddle his rookie year
So it’s not like Brace’s inability to win a starting position in his first year is exactly ‘proof’ that he’s a bust at this point. If Pryor hadn’t been so impressive, Brace would’ve had more snaps, and nobody would be particularly complaining. Pryor’s emergence makes him look like a very, very good low-round draft pick; he doesn’t turn Brace into a ‘bad’ second-round pick.

ok i just looked at this bogus article
top 5 i agree with 100 percent and steelers at 6 i think is very close but i think wilfork being younger then hampton gives us a slight edge. i think the pats should be 6 7 at the lowest on this list. the redskins cmon they havent even played 3-4 yet.
Jason Cole doesn't even mention Gerard Warren...
You know, that guy who was a 3rd overall draft pick, ahead of Richard Seymour and Damione Lewis? He might not have made a whole lot of Pro Bowls, but he’s not exactly an ‘(un)accomplished lineman’.

You think the Wilfork deal went at all like this?
