That's In The Past
That’s in the past. The theme for the new season has been presented to us by Bill and I love it. The time has come for us as fans to take heed and listen to those magical words, to move on from the glory days of yesterday. I like the concept that Bill has presented the team and let’s hope that new identities will be forged from the present day players instead of living in the shadows of players past. As fans we cannot help it, we compare and analyze future players and the expectations we demand to players that have helped this team win three Super Bowls. Is it fair? No, but it is the nature of the beast, I get that. In the great words of Rick Pitino and his reference to the Boston Celtics: “Larry Bird, Robert Parrish, and Kevin McHale are not walking through that door”. Same can be said for the New England Patriots: Teddy, Willie, Troy, and Ty are not walking back onto the field to help out this team. To us these players seem not to stack up to our past greats, but at one time the same was being said about an undersized Troy Brown and Tedy Bruschi. Let’s give Bill some slack and see where all the pieces fit in his Salvador Dali puzzle. I say go for it Bill, bring in Ty Pennington from “Extreme Makeover” to strip down the stadium and change the teams colors for all I care, as long as you get results.. But who cares about that, certainly not Bill, because that’s in the past.
