Ask The Falcoholic!
Hello, Pats fans!
For those of you who don't remember me from last season, I'm the editor-in-chief over at The Falcoholic. As is my custom before a game, I'm popping over here to answer any question you might have about the Atlanta Falcons.
Wondering if Boston College alum Matt Ryan will have a big season? Need to know the skinny on Michael Turner for your fantasy league? Curious how a guy named Shann Schillinger makes an NFL team? I'll do my best to answer.
Here's to a great, injury-free game this weekend. Please recommend this post to keep it up near the top for those who want to ask questions.

It's about time you came(yes. i've been over to your blog, to see how the falcons were in their first pre-season game)!
I’m a fan of Matt Ryan. I think he may be the next Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. In your opinion, how much improved do you feel Matt Ryan is from last year?
Tell me about your rookies?
Is Pierra Jerry going to make an impact? How does he look in camp?
Very much off-topic(I can’t help it): Tell me your top 5 movies if you want. I am a film fanatic(one of my interests), and I try and watch movies as much as possible, and I always try to watch highly recommended movies. :)

Thanks for the questions!
Matt Ryan is definitely improved from a year ago, but I’m going to avoid predicting lofty heights for him until we get him in some regular season action. He’s still got happy feet in the pocket and he’s always going to need good pass protection to thrive, so the strength of the line will go a long way.
The rookie standouts so far have been sure-handed wide receiver Kerry Meier, defensive tackle Corey Peters and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon. Those guys all have a legitimate chance for playing time their rookie seasons. Safety Shann Schillinger (say that five times fast) had a nice pick on Friday, and cornerback Dominique Franks hits like a train.
Jerry looks good in camp, is gradually increasing his workload and is in line for a starting job. It would be safe to say we have high hopes for him this year, and he should be a big piece of the puzzle when it comes to our pass rush.
Tough to name a true top five off the top of my head, but I’ll name five that would at least be up there. Thin Red Line, Donnie Darko, Gladiator, Blade Runner and The Dark Knight.

Like the top 5.
Haven’t seen The Red Line, and I only saw parts of Gladiator(surprising right?).
if you don’t mind foreign films, I suggest Pan’s Labyrinth, City of God, and Battle Royale.
Other than that, maybe Sunshine, District 9, and Memento.

so did i
but it was way too long of a movie

Agreed
It was a night out though, so, it didn’t matter. It definitely could have been edited better, (and a little less blatantly matrix-ish.)
Keep the faith!
I didn't have a problem with either.
I thought it was brilliant. in a way, despite it’s length. I felt it had to be long due to the pure subject of the movie.

how is my fellow buckeye Jenkins doing
imo he is a better no 2 WR than a no. 1 WR

I'd agree with that
He’s got a reputation as a great blocker, but it hasn’t been particularly well-deserved over the last couple of seasons. I know the Falcons would like to upgrade…he’s really, at best, an average #2.

Let's say that this would be a regular season game...
…what are a few things that would make you confident the Falcons could beat the Patriots? What positional match-ups against the Patriots favor the Falcons?
How has Michael “The Burner” Turner recovered from his injury?
Thanks for doing this, I posted over at the Falcoholic (great site name).
Well
I’d say our wide receivers against your young secondary would be a strength. I’d also offer up our front seven against your ground game. Obviously, I fear what Welker, Moss & Co. would do to our young secondary.
Turner’s recovered nicely, looks slimmed down and ready to make an impact this season. There’s even talk about integrating him into the passing game more, but I’ll believe that when I see it. He has like 23 career catches.

Has Jerious Norwood recovered from the injuries that ended his season?
And will he be the third down back if he remains healthy?
My kingdom for a spellchecker. Or Devin Harris. Hopefully both.

He suffered another one in camp
Looks healthy again now. We’re all hopeful he can return to form, because he’s got a very unique skillset as a speedy, agile back that we don’t have anywhere else on the team.

Getting an old-fashioned Wisconsin sweater onto Duster was much, much easier than the motion W.
I wish that WAS his in-game sprite…

I can think of a few Falcons with great names
Their fullback, Ovie Mughelli, their TE, Keith Zinger, and their long snapper, Joe Zelenka. Seriously: who wouldn’t want to see Zelenka snapping to Zoltan Mesko? Or better yet, Zelenka snaps to Zoltan, who lobs it to Zinger? That’d automatically be the best gadget play, ever.

That would be great
one writer (I forget who) joked that it shouldn’t be allowed for the Patriots to have both Gostkowski and Gronkowski on the same team because it will be too easy for the announcers to screw up. It just might if the Pats have any games called by Randy Cross.
Keep the faith!
They could add Janikowski for Kick-Offs, and pick up Gradkowski as a back-up QB.
Then watch Randy Cross explode. After all, he can’t figure out how black All-Pro CB Todd Lyght unretired, bulked up, became white (maybe following Michael Jackson’s regimen), and is currently the Left Tackle for the Patriots. There’s no way he could handle the ’ski patrol.

They might just mumble and end it with -ski.
G-something-ski just did something good with the football. Yay!

Gradkowski is a QB for the Oakland Raiders.
When they said Gradkowski, I laughed at them.
But I know what you mean.

I was just going off my post where we added Janikowski and Gradkowski just to make it harder for sportscasters.
G-something-ski, kicked the ball….
Janikowski or Gostkowski?
One of them, then G-something-ski completed a pass to G-something-ski, and screw it, I quit.

Matt Ryan took a step back last season.
Will this be the first year he throws for over 4,000 yards, with all the options available (Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez, Turner and Michael Jenkins)?

You have to get your guys the ball out of the backfield
how else did the Chargers beat the Colts (of course, they picked off Manning about a billion times)?

Well yeah.
But Turner isn’t very well known for catching anything out in the backfield. lol
Maybe he’s not targeted enough, but he doesn’t catch passes as far as I know.

I don't think he'll hit 4,000 yards
This is a team that still relies heavily on a strong ground game, and while Ryan is poised to break out some this year I don’t think he’s going to have the opportunity to air it out to that extent.
But hey, I’ve been wrong before.
