Patriots Release Simmons, Re-Sign Cornerback Johnson
It has been a pretty slow news day for the Patriots, although the team did make a couple of minor roster moves.
The Patriots released offensive lineman Brian Simmons and re-signed cornerback Terrence Johnson, an undrafted rookie free agent. Simmons was signed a couple of weeks ago after going undrafted, and after playing sparingly against the Falcons, didn't see any time against the Rams following the acquisition of Quinn Ojinaka.
Terrence Johnson's re-signing may be an indication of the severity of the injury suffered by Terrence Wheatley in last Thursday's game against the Rams. Johnson should see a good amount of playing time against the Giants in the preseason finale on Thursday.

Aw
Did Wheatley go down AGAIN?
My kingdom for a spellchecker. Or Devin Harris. Hopefully both.
For all the crap we give Wil Wheaton, he can still tackle better than Asante Samuel...
Manning drops back to pass, Comedic.Sans and Wilfork come flying in and SACK him for a loss of twelve on 3rd and goal!

Indeed
He was pulled during the game due to injury, and no word about severity since, but it seems he hasn’t been training.
Go figure.
Token southern hemisphere guy - 14,688km from Foxboro. That's 9128 miles, for you heathens.

surprised? no. disappointed a bit?, yeah.
I wanted to be proven wrong about Wheatley, but… it seems durability is more of a problem than effort or talent.
Terrence Johnson didn’t do much to impress during Training Camp, so it’s an “eh” move so far.
Keep the faith!
